does high weight low reps work for bulking??

I've heard that if you lower the reps and higher the weight that it will work great for bulk. Like instead or doing 8-10 reps do 3-5 reps. True?? thanks for any answers

oh yeah i def eat a whole bunch not junk though i just feel that doing that 5x5 works a lot better for mass.

I know it works for strength very well, and since I've gained 45 pounds using the 5x5 and eating like a horse over the last 10 months, I'd have to say that it also adds bulk.

oh yeah well i recently switched as well to the 5x5 2 exercise per muscle group but heres what i think i'm gonna do tell me what you think
gonna do the same thing 5x5 2 exercises per muscle group but then after thats done do two more sets of 8-10 reps of some thing like a machine or flyes take a look

day one chest and bis
flat bench 5x5
barbell curls 5x5
inclined bench 5x5
preacher curls 5x5 (or cons. or dumbell * haven't decided yet)
*flyes 2 sets or 8-10 reps
machine cable curls 2 sets 8-10 reps

thats jjust an example for tris i'd prolly have pulldowns toping it off with the 8-10
tell me what you think ??

its too much and defeats the purpose of the program. trust me you will only want to do one 5x5 exercise. after your done with it youll see why. the idea is to push yourself to the max on 5x5 and increase the weight every week.just do inclines 5x5, flat bench 2x8, and flys 2x8. trust me if you eat enough...youll grow. do barbell curls 5x5, prachers 2x8 and cable curls 2x8.

oh well i was just saying this cause i get good gains on the 2 exercises 5x5 but i like the last two sets of cable curls to tax it you feel a lot better you know?? I mean i'm just doing this once a week per bodypart so i have 7 days to rest and recover from each you know? i want to keep the level up there. Well tell me what you think and why

That's not really how the 5x5 works. You should pick either incline or flat barbell bench for the 5x5 portion one or the other not both. Then after that do 2 sets of 10 with say dumbbells and the 2 sets of then with cable flyes.

This is my chest routine right now

5x5 with flat barbell bench at 265 pounds
then 2 sets 10 with dumbbell incline bench
then 2 sets 10 with dumbbell flyes on incline bench

My new routine for chest come 2004 will be
5x5 with incline barbell bench starting at 180-190?
then 2 sets 10 with dumbbell flat bench
then 2 sets 10 with either incline flyes or cable cross overs, maybe alternate from week to week.

Currently if your working to your fullest intensity on flat bench 5x5 and then going and doing the same on incline your doing to much in one day. Trust me it might feel okay right now but it's too much pick one or the other and focus on it 5x5 for 4-6 months and then switch to the other. Neither one will get too weak or too strong compared to the other as long as you use the 2x10 lifts to work the other area.

I'm to ADD for high reps...lol.

Do them all...high reps, low reps, mid-range...grow in all areas.

Actually, the amount of reps is much less important than you all assume
