Does Finasteride create more estrogen?

Does finasteride create more estrogen in your body by converting the DHT to protect against MPB? And with increasing test in your system does that mean the finasteride will also create more estrogen in your body because it has more to convert?

No. That is the plain answer.

NO

YES,
It absolutely does increase estrogen, in 2 ways in fact.

First off some of the testosterone that does not get converted to DHT gets converted to estrogen. Test levels will increase 10-20% on a 5-AR blocker depending on the dose. You can expect a 10-20% increase in estrogen as well.

Secondly, DHT acts like an anti-e agent because it has a high affinity for the aromatase enzyme.

Gyno is a side effect of fin and dut use - look it up. This is due to increased E levels.

Thank you kd1,

This board is slowly becoming less and less legitamate with every uninformed dumb post someone makes.

Finasteride gave me a bad case of puffy nipples. Also killed my sex drive and it took a long time after I stopped taking it to regain my sex drive back.

It's more significant that DHT has affinity for the oestrogen receptor than that it binds to the aromatase enzyme. Its binding to the AE is very weak.

Note that topical DHT cream is a frontline treatment for gyno.

Does anyone know how the reduced DHT levels would effect SHBG levels? I suspect that they'd be increased which would reduce the circulating test and oestrogen.
