thanks for your help

Simple answer: NO! never has and never shown itself to do so...unless sugar is added to the coffee

but caffeine, NEVER

what's the controversy? there is no science to back up that theory, and none that I've seen...again, there are a lot of myths in bodybuilding and this is one of them

thanks for the reply, Mr X. I read your articles last night, and one of the biggest questions I have is: how did you come up with those numbers for protein and fat in your CKD article (85% and 15%, or 75% and 25%, etc.)?? And what is the significance of varying the protein intake for 6 days? why not keep it at the same levels?

The ratios are based on studies of Ketosis induced in patients, and from experience. The significance of variying protein will be mostly underlying in the Ketonic shift, meaning the first few days the process of "getting" into Ketosis will require lower protein ratios because of the ability of proteins to convert to glucose at approximately a 50% rate. With glucose in the system, a ketonic state will be near impossible to reach. Not so much impossible, but of course LONGER, much LONGER. Most Keto-users shoot for 48hrs to reach Ketosis, I advocate 24-36 because in the shorter time frame less muscle is lost (if any) and more fat-burning is achieved (ultimately).

hmm I'm wondering too because this week I had coffee with heavy cream and some splenda in it and my ketosis was 12-16 hours later than usual. ??? Also what about smoking a couple hits off a joint, could that have been it? Just thinking I'll drop the coffee and weed altogether until I can isolate which one is the culprit. Also it was Folgers instant coffee if that matters?

The coffee, read ABOVE, DOES NOT EFFECT KETOSIS!!!! The weed does not either, besides the eating that most people do w/ weed. Weed slows down the metabolic rate, so you should stop smoking it alltogether. Drop the bad smoking habbit, but the coffee can stay.

thanks Mr.X also I wanna try hitting ketosis within 24 hours next week instead of 36. How much ala should I take to help out? Do you think insulin is too risky? If not is that an even quicker route? I've heard one day with say 6 to 8 units of humalin throughout and next morning dark ketosis.

*************
all depending on how many carbs you take, I would take 100mg R-ALA for every 30g of carbs

Do you think insulin is too risky?

yes if you have not used it before...it's deadly

Read my MKD manual it's in the STICKY on top of the page.....
