Does anyone use their home phone anymore?

I'm using my cell phone all the time now and hardly ever use my home phone. I just disconnected my home telephone line today because I'm paying $45/month for basic service plus any long distance calls that make the bill around $100/month. With my cell phone I just got a new plan where I pay $60/month for 800 anytime minutes and unlimited minutes on nights and weekends. Plus FREE long distance calls. Why pay $100/month when I can talk cheaper on my cell phone.

yeah i wish i could disconnect my shit, too. problem is that people have to call my home number to open up the apartment gates when they come over. i essentially pay $45/month to let people in my gates. i suppose i could drive my car down there and open up the gates for them, but bleh.

Yes, I do.

I dont even have a cell.

I find them annoying and rude lots of times.

But I'm prolly gonna end up having one within, oh, the year.

Oh no shit!! They annoy the hell out of me. I never pick it up though but I shit you not they call at least 8 times before lunch time. Motherfuckers wake me up all the time:mad:

I will always have a home phone if just to fax. Plus if given the option I'd rather talk a regular phone over my cell. I probably talk more on my cell than the home phone but not that much more. Plus on the occassions my DSL isn't working they have a back up dial up number for 56K dial up.

You gotta good point but my DSL hasn't been down for at least a year.

I'm thinking about not getting phone service when I move in a month. I am always using my cell phone anyway. I guess it's another 45 bucks that I could save. It's just a pain because cell phones don't hold their charge nearly as long as regular phones.

Just use the headset/earpiece. <G>

I use my cell more than the home phone. We don't even listen to voicemail for weeks at a time on the home phone. My daughter uses the home phone regularly though. LOL

The only Logical reason I can think of keeping a landline other than
SSME opening the Gates for his Gay Party guests would be for the 911 locator capabilities
that cells don't have yet.

I agree.

If some of you guys are the type that just can't stop talking on your damn cell phones then damn you all because it is VERY annoying. If you talk and discuss serious matters then go ahead and use them but please stop using them for bullshit chitchat like the usual "OMG you should have seen her dress at the party last night".

I only have a cel, no land line.
I am a man of the 23rd century.

I don't know my home phone number, my gf uses it, I avoid it.

then again, I hate phones and mainly have a cell phone because I like small shiny things.

Well, I'll always have a land line, here's why.....

1. Fax

2. DSL

3. Work calls my cell, so at night I turn it off... :doublefi:

4. I work for the phone company, so it's free... :D

Definitely not. Ever since I got back from Europe I realized that I had no need for a home telephone. I am @ work all day so any calls I have to make, I make there. I guess times are changing a lot.

The only reason I have a home phone is for internet connection. I hardly ever answer my phone either because its always people I don't want to talk to or its damn telemarketers. Plus I get free long distance on my cell phone.

free long distance and unlimited minutes for $59.99 a month on my mobile phone plan = no need for a home phone. No telemarketers (yet) on my mobile either.

Same here, got tired of paying $45 per month wether I used it or not, so it's strictly cell phone for me now. Besides Sprint can suck my dick.
