Does anyone on here....

I do yoga 2 times a week. Lately - it has been my primary exercise and it has kept me lean however, I did run once in awhile. I am starting my training program back up soon but yoga can definitely help keep you lean. I think it also depends on the individual. Everyone is different. It's great for the muscles/tendons. My knees used to hurt from my training and after I started yoga I feel no more knee pain - flexibility, I guess.

I haven't done yoga much - and I am so inflexible I can't touch my toes without seriously bending my knees. However, I was thinking of doing it. Just concerned about popping a freaking hammy.

Isn't true yoga a form of Religion???? I realise that there is a sort of physical activity to it, but the real thing is all spiritual and shit right?

Anyone in here know anything about it?

Yeah - I don't know anything about the spiritual side of Yoga either. I just want to do it as a form of exercise.

I would definitely try it. Your instructor (if good) will know what to do and won't make you go further than your body can handle. Hamstrings are so important because being so tight they can cause back problems, knee problems, etc. I actually had pretty tight hamstrings because I HATED stretching and now I do this and while sure, at times it gets boring, it has helped me tremendously AND I feel more athletic since my muscle movement has improved.

Yeah there's supposedly different tenets of yoga. There are different steps and you work your way up - obviously the ones at the highest levels have been doing it for years and practicing for years. It's more about spirituality. I find it difficult to concentrate at times.... LOL.

Many athletes are doing it - they say that it makes them better at their respective sports and reduces sports related injuries. I tried it a couple of times - I was good at - and enjoyed - the balance poses and just sucked ass at the stretching poses.

Yeah - I believe that. It also teaches you to breath better and focus better. Many positive aspects of yoga but I will admit that I get bored at times. It's hard though - people who don't know and thinks it's easy are in for a big surprise when they try it. I love the balancing/strength aspects of it. Challenging.

Yeah - it was tough for me - but without the breathing hard, and really sweating aspect - it doesn't seem like enough of a workout.
