Does the lack of "people skills" most people display online cause you to lose faith in humanity?

Someone told me about the site a few weeks ago. I read some entries back then, finding the posts to be interesting...for the most part, people were intelligent and sarcastic. I also noticed some arguing back and forth over stupid shit, but that happens everywhere. Didn't EF forcibly take away your faith in humanity years ago?
