Does anyone here collect old, ancient coins?

I collect mostly American coins. Late 1800's to pre 1964 silver and gold.

I have been looking on eBay at some of the coins found in shipwrecks and stuff.

Don't know if it would be worth buying some of those. Seems everybody has some for sale on eBay.

I would be skeptical about buying coins on ebay...Unless the seller had high ratings and had some sort of profesional cert. of the coin I just dont know if I would feel that safe in buying them

Yea, you do have to be careful. I usually check their feedback ratings before I will bid on anything.

I also check and see what services they are using to grade them. Of course, I also use coin magazine guides to determine if it is a good deal too!

The thing that bugs me about ebay is most of the auctions are for like 7-10 days and people start bidding on them right off the bat. Why!?! I always wait until about 10 minutes left in the auction before I start bidding.

People are so ignorant.
