Does anyone actually own a trash compactor?

I'm all for saving the environment but this seems a bit much, dunno anybody who has one.

We had one in my parent's house for years. We used it all the time. I don't even remember why.

Something about crushing the trash so you could put more in. Now I just use my fist to compact the trash.
