Does anybody on here have essential tremors?

Karde

I think that is what I have!?! I looked it up a while back and I think it would be classified as an essential tremor. I was dining out a few months back and while I was holding my fork between my index finger and thumb, the fork was just bouncing up and down ever so slightly but I couldn't control it and I began to worry about Parkinson's disease so I loked it up and read alot about it on the internet. Doesn't bother me much but it is annoying!

tremors

I have essential tremors. I've had them my whole life. They are genetic and may get worse with age. They can affect your limbs, head and voice. Kate Hepburn had them that's why her voice waivered. Other famous people have had them but I can't think of any right now. It is different than Parkinsons disease. It's not dangerous . Just annoying-lol.

I went to a neurologist a couple of years ago and he prescribed a beta-blocker drug called Inderol. It works by regulating the output of adreneline, keeping your heartbeat steady. It worked for me but I stopped after a week because it seemed to have a rebound effect. At night my heart would start racing and i would get chills. The doctor told me that the only other thing that seems to stop them is alcohol. I noticed that when I drink they go away but become worse the next day.

I believe that there may be good points to having them.
I actually believe that they are the reason that I have always had very low body fat no matter how much I eat (maybe because all that shaking burning lots of calories). And I have always been very fast and had quick reaction times (maybe from the overproduction of adreneline).

If you have any questions I'd be happy to answer.

I dont know? When i sit down and if I rock my knee up and down once it will just keep going and going and going like the Energizer Bunny! I have had nervous ticks from studying to much years ago! That's about it.

Your knee rocking up and down sounds like tremors. Nervous ticks are something different. Although being nervous and strenuous physical activity can make essential tremors worse.

The only times I really notice them is when I hold a fork and try to eat. And they're not good for taking photographs-lol.

I have been taking propanol for a year now, and it works fine with no noticable sides. I am taking 40mgs a day

i had reaed about new treatments in the work for them a year ago. Wondering if anybody on here knew anything. I hate people asking me if i am nervous, when i am totally calm. I only get a slight tremor and there are good days and bad days.

My knees do that too sometimes, it seems to depend on the angle of my foot resting on the ground, and how hyper I am. If my arch is flexed so my heel's off the ground, and I'm restless, chances are my knee will start bouncing up and down like it's trying to tell me something

i think i may have this ever so slightly, but if i try i can hold my hands still, but if theyre just relaxed then they have a very slight shake to them, my dads hands were like that too. I remember when I was a kid and used to build model cars hed watch in amazement how steady my hands were. my g/f has it too, hers is slightly worse than mine. its nothing anyone would ever notice though, unless ive been working w/my hands alot, then they shake quit a bit.

If I've been on anything containing ephedrine for awhile, it's very noticable for quite awhile even after I've come off. Knees in certain positions, holding a fork, or turning the knob on a stove, stereo, etc.
