I found that taking a large piece of plastic wrap and allowing a friend or family member to suffocate me with it worked the best for that situation.

I still get the same thing after a month, and can't change my avatar it's some kind of glitch that started when they updated the board. A lot of people still have this problem. E mail an administrator about it.
