Did you ever play this is school. I remember kids ( especially the unathletic ones) getting hit in the face and crying, and the coaches would be laughing.

There was a great report about it on Real Sports with Gumbel on it. It has been banned in a lot of areas. There are also pro-dodgeball advocates who saying stopping it will lead to the "wusification of America". I think it can be a good game though.

I love catching the damn ball when the coach is throwing hard as he can...boom sit your ass down coach!!

Then I would throw this curvy, slider type fastball with all kinds of movement...and peg people in the chest...

dodgeball = cool game

Newsflash- this already happened the year I left elementary school when they banned from hitting other kids in the face....

That was about 15+ years ago, so I am sure the damage has been done by now...

I thought the banned this game because it hurt the fat kids feelings. We have such a problem with obesity in america and now they're ruining a extremely memorable game, that every child will now miss.

Some schools still play versions of it, but not with the red playground balls anymore. They use Gator balls now.

We played with those hard red rubber balls of different sizes. The little ones hurt the most because you could throw them with high velocity. We had such an athletic 6th grade class that we nearly always beat the 8th grade class. But 8th graders that were in P.E. were not playing any sports, so most of them were not very athletic.

When on offense, I'd always aim hard right at the feet.. on defense I'd charge the person with the ball and always attempt a catch.

We had a half ass game with one of those cardio tramps at our Y until one dude smashed his hand and we got booted..

In Hawaii, they call dodgeball "Sham Battle." I think it's the same thing though. Hey, at least we got exercise playing games like this in elementary school! I always liked it...then again I was one of the few girls that could actually catch the ball and take a hit without crying!

kids in america are too soft these days. everyone is to "PC" all the time. teachers & coaches are too scared to do or say anything because of the lawsuit they may face from the parents.

so your kid gets hit in the face with a ball a couple times - good, it will toughen him up.
