Doctor, Acne and Steroids

For you guys that have been to the doc for steroid related acne, do you tell him you use steroids? I went a few years ago and almost immediately the doctor says "its obvious you weight train, do you use steroids?" I denied it but I need to go again soon.

Also I know most general MD's will prescribe tetraciclyne, how did you get him to give you something more effective? What would be something more effective that a general MD would be willing to prescribe? Thanks.

I have tried to be honest but it depends on the docs attitude. :supercool

Derms see adult acne more than you think. You train, you take supplements--that's all one needs to say. There are many modes of treatment for acne--oral and topical antibiotics, accutane, retin A micro. Even Proscar will help by lowering DHT levels. What has worked for you in the past? Discuss this with the doc and don't get tied up discussing AAS use. The purpose of your visit is to treat the acne, not a philosophy lecture.

Asked to be refered to a dermatologist. Once there tell him/her that you are ready for the next level that antibiotics and creams aren't cutting it and you have been a mess for a few years. Then say you wouild like to try accutane. This shit is the real deal. I was clear for a year. I do get some acne while on. Mainly just my neck and very few on my face but ity is controlled and nothing like before!

Deny, deny, deny. That's what I did. My Family doctor never asked me when I went first for tetracycline (Crap!), and then later for Accutante (worked like a charm). I however got drilled multiple times by a nurse, and a plastic surgeon before gyno surgery. I guess having a little extra BF seemed slightly less suspicious.

Thanks for the replies, I dont think Ill tell him and just ask for something more effective. Thanks again for all the help.

what is your doctor gonna do, call the police? of course you should tell him the truth! he may be better be able to treat you. you are paying him for his expertise. don't you want the best advice he can give?

curious, can the doctor report you for use of any illegal drug?
I mean isnt there the hippocratic oath or something like doctor/ patient confidentialty?
