Docs in the house: Liver Enzyme Question.

Okay,
I have been completely off of all gear for over 5 months. I do consume anywhere from 300-400 grams of protein per day and take aminos, glutamine etc. I have recently started using tribulus for a little boost.

Well, I took blood tests to see if I can start a course of accutane for the occasional nodular acne that I get (primarily after a cycle). Unfortunately my liver enzymes AST and ALT were too elevated to begin. I have had my Liver enzymes tested and retested and have been given every panel of tests in the past two years including an ultrasound of my liver and no disease or issues seem to be there. My enzymes are always the same. Whether I am on a cycle or off.

Is there any way that I could temporarily lower the enzymes for the purpose of a blood test? I though maybe a 3 day fast and a complete avoidance of all supplements may skew them lower.

I really want my insurance to cover the accutane, but as it stands, it looks like I will have to go about it illegally.

AST and ALT arn't good for liver references in athletes since they are always elevated....the same enzymes are released when the muscle is damaged (trained)

so if you don't work out a couple of days before the test the values must be lower

I tried to explain that to my doc, but she says training has no effect (young hot female dermatoligist). The fact that 3 prior tests were identical should show that these are normal for me. Especially since SGOT and GGT are normal.

my wife's were just way high out of the blue after routine blood work eventually found her gallbladder needed to be and was removed. Have they checked your GB refraction rate?

I am seeing my doctor monday... I will mention this.

GGT is the most specific for liver; if it is normal, then your testing just confirms overtraining or dehydration.

GGT was fine... but these docs are hypersensitive about ALT and AST concerning accutane use.
