yeah. my shoulders do the same thing when incline benching/ shoulder pressing. both my knees and shoulders hurt when they do this. never used to. before, it was just the sound
My knees have always popped every so often. About 16 years ago the doc told me that I'd grow out of it and that it wasn't a problem. I didn't grow out of it, but I haven't ever been concerned that it was an issue. I haven't experienced any pain when they pop, at least not yet.
My right knee has been "crunchy" for years now. My doctor told me that I'm probably in for some arthritis when I get older, but unless it's painful or swells up, there's little that can be done.

I get that in my elbows/knees all the time, just by extending my arm/moving etc. It sounds like bubble rap popping. Yeah apparently if it happens to much the bone thickens causing problems in the future. I think the cracking is nitrogen/carbondioxide bubbles. No pain yet.
