Do you think this is a tendon or muscle problem?

Back about 2 years ago I injured something between my pec and shoulder kinda inside my armpit. I posted on here I believe thinking it was a tendon strain. Anyways the first time I hurt it I was coming off a cycle, I think i just got too strong too fast and something "popped or partially tore" The only way that this went away was when I pretty much didnt bench for 2 months..

Well I started to feel this same injury flare up again about 2 weeks ago, I wasn't benching alot it was a normal set. Right when it started I said fuck that put the weight down and just did nothing for a week and a half. I did a little warm up set on the bench today and felt it so it hasn't gotten any better.

So Im wondering if anyone has had a similar problem or if anyone knows how to treat such an injury. Would stretching be good bad.. ice heat etc...

Thanks

I've got this now. I did heavy wide chins Tuesday and then cable cross overs ... liked them a lot ... and did more.
Now it aches like crazy. I can find the injured spot with my fingers exactly like yours.

I strectched and was able to wo. Actually went up by keeping my elbows down and closer.
Rather than bench, I used a machine. This helped too.

Treatment? I injected into the site with hgh. This is like prolotherapy. I'll also ice and rest it.

Damn. I hate injuries!

ahh machines.... theres nothing I like more than stacking plates on a bench and showing up all of the "surfer" morons at my gym

Sounds like bicep tendon or serratus anterior strain.
The bicep tendon is definitly more common.
Ice and self massage.
Could you be more specific with the location, or if you
know anatomy real well, I'm a Doc that'll help.

I tried to find some muscular models online to identify exactly where/ what it is but if i were to extend my left arm to my left so it is striaght out the tendon or whatever would run parrallel to my arm direction from the very upper region of my pec to under my armpit.

I finally found the exact spot of my injury. I was sitting back with my right arm bent at 45 degrees ... turning my hand back and forth slowly ... with the tips of my left fingers pushing in about the arm pit.

POW! I hit the center of the pain! It was no bigger than the tip of my first finger and seems to be deep in the muscle.

I iced that spot last night 20 on/20 off about 6 times ... not too cold.

This morning it is 75% better.

Monday is my next shot of hgh and that shot is going right into that spot. The pin is just 29 g, 1/2 long so it is easy to do.

That's the bicep tendon, both of you.
Classic symptoms, your doing the right things so far, keep it up.

Unfortunately I've seen some of these that needed to be put back into place due to whatever reasons but, the chronic state and inability to heal being the key.
I'm gonna research some online stuff and contact some others for insight.
Hang tight.

Guys that may in fact be the brachioradialis.
Tendonitis is treated the same way, so keep doing what your doing.

An good overview of care:
Conservative care includes resting, ice and NSAID therapy. A light injection of steroid and anesthetic can be beneficial for those who have to continue with activity despite severe pain, and can actually be diagnostic. Rehab should include strengthening of the internal rotators, which act eccentrically during late cocking to avoid excessive anterior strain. The serratus and trapezius should be addressed, and also training of the biceps itself.

Osteophyte formation and narrowing of the bicipital groove can facilitate tendinosis, I don't think your quite here yet but keep this in mind.

So your exercises are this;
With a light exercise band do reps with upperarm paralell to the ground and forearm straight up, like bicep pose, this is your starting point, the rep the goes forward to palm facing the ground, reapeat. That's for internal rotators.

For Brachio radialis and coracobrachialis, basically a bicep curl but your rotating your hand from palm facing midline to palm facing outward through the rep.

The seraatus exercise is like doing a straight arm push-up, very limited movement, or basically a punch with arm already extended.

Do these reps to slight pump, avoid pain.
If painful, cease exercises and ice.
Post exercise stretch, self massage then ice.
