I have heard that you should stop eating not when you're full, but when you are no longer hungry.

I've tried and I can't do this. I need to FEEL like I just ate.

I also have a hard time getting filled up during dinner. Large salads fill me up REALLY well, but noodles, meat, etc, just doesn't cut it unless i have like a billion other sides and snacks and stuff with it. Maybe i'm just hungry from swim practice?

Anyway, i'd like to know how you guys eat and how you handle hunger.

[my first attempt at polls so bare with me a sec....]

When I was dieting I sort of developed binge eating disorder. I would eat clean for the whole week and then pig out pretty much all day once a week, as a break. Pigging out on pints of ice cream, cake, whole pizzas, boxes of toaster struddels in single sittings. I read about doing that in a Muscle and Fitness mag from I think his name was Christian Boeving. The thing was it was supposed to be a once a week thing, but I turned it into whenever I felt like it kinda thing. I've gotten away from that more recently, when I took a more "everything in moderation", sensible approach to diet and exercise. I think the latter way is better.

I always drink water with a meal, and i've been trying to eat more slowly. Even if I ate until I was no longer hungry, and went away and did other stuff for a while, i'd still lack the feeling of having just eaten. I enjoy food of all kinds more than the average teenager, and the only way for me to end a meal is to feel completely full. I almost always reach this during lunch, because they offer chicken salads and other types of salads, soup, and fruit...and I love the raw vegetables they have.

I feel a little unconfortably full for at least 20 minutes into the next period. I hardly ever get this during dinner at home, so I wonder why I have to eat soo much (like I do at lunch) in order to feel completely full.

Should I eat less at meals? As i'm typing this I'm like, craving the raw veggies with ranch dressing that I have at lunch. But if I ate this, it would probobly trigger a binge, because, quite frankly, I don't feel completely full still from dinner.

Another thing, even when I eat a full breakfast i'm hungry after 2 hours or so. I usually bring a snack like pretzels, carrots, or an apple for in between breakfast and my lunch (i have the very latest lunch)......but, sooo many other kids don't experience this. Half of them don't eat breakfast, though, and my suspicion is that their metabolism wasnt really kicked in yet....... Should I just bare with the pain of feeling hungry after 2 hours, (the feeling comes and goes, and i'm usually not hungry for longer than 10 minutes during the day if i brought a snack)

I have lots of questions.

lol.

Lol! That's funny! Most of America has come down with that - it's a pandemic!

I seem to only have this issue at night!!! On the couch!!!!

My advice, esp. in the evening hours- is to keep busy. Shove pictures into an album, do homework, clean, log online here- just don't munch while you do it. Anyway, I clean a lot :)

I also put my crest white strips in if I'm totally freaking out and know I'll binge. Can't eat with the strips in.

I used to have that problem, but now I'm eating so much damn full, I have to force feed most of the time. But oh well I do what I have to, to gain weight. I'd say it's normal to feel hungry soon after eating breakfast, especially. I seem to get hungry quicker after breakfast, like 1.5 to 2 hrs later, but once I get that 2nd meal in, I hardly get hungry the rest of the day any more.

I'd say you need to rethink your snack. thinks like pretzels and apples are simple carbs that are going to fill you up for a little bit, but once your blood sugar drops, they will leave you feeling hungry again. try to have a balanced snack, one with some carbs, fats and protein.

I also like to walk away from eating, feeling full. I hate the feeling of hunger, more than anything.

Are you sure you're eating enough calories for you body's needs? Just because you're eating a large amount of food, doesn't mean you're getting enough cals. and your body is saying "GIVE ME MORE".

I always over eat and complain im gonna throw up. Ud think id know better by now. Although i didnt finish all of my 18" steak bomb the other day , so i was pretty proud of myself.

fill my tummy up with water b4 i get hungry. great way to lose weight and eat less.

I have slowed down, but still am on the see food diet. If I see it, I eat it.

Got a pot of chili? well, I eat until I can't eat no mo. Same with Pasta, especially what my family calls old fashion spagetti. Prepared a pot, 1 lb burger, large onion, large can crushed tomatoe and 1 lb pasta. I ate half of it in one sitting. burp !

Good thing I don't weigh what I have eaten or I might be like, oh, 5'6" and 400lbs.

I usually stop before I'm full, but there are 4 things I can't do that with. My wife, her Chili, her lasagna & steak.
