Do you prefer to train alone or with a partner?

I have a new training partner! He is alot more advanced in weight training than I am (you can tell just by looking at him). I needed a change in my program and this guy trains at a lot faster pace. what about you alone or a partner?

i train with a friend but since summer is approaching hes gonna be gone and ill be on my own.. i look forward to it because he didnt enjoy doing some lifts over others and wasnt great at helping to motivate. so now ill get do the routine and lifts i want to do without complaints. im just gonna have to pester people for spots

The guy I started training with does a killer abb workout. Two people, one stands one on a abb bench you throw the heavyball to each other. You do like 15 to each side then 20 in the middle doing a situp with the ball. Thats 1 set now do 4 more sets, this shits killer I love it!!!!

I prefer to train alone but it's convenient to know a few names in the gym to get a spot from time to time.

I train alone currently because no one else can work out with me in the morning....but I prefer to have an experienced training partner usually. With a good partner, you constantly have someone to hold you accountable and help you push through limitations when you would normally pull back if you were by yourself. A good TP makes sure that you're always pushing yourself harder and not wussying out. They can also help you make corrections on form and technique.

Oh, but one VERY IMPORTANT thing......a good TP knows how to STFU!!! If there's one thing I can't stand, it's fools in the gym who would rather waste their time choppin it up rather than training hard. The gym is for movin weight, not your mouth.

The best training partner I have ever had was an X-Marine. That boy kicked my rear every time we worked out. Oh gosh I miss those days. If I can't find someone like him, I probably wouldn't want one again. I want someone who can push me. I plug in my I-pod and turn up disturbed and it gets me going really well. Thats just me.

Except for my first 2 years, I've been training alone all along. I'd like a tp, but it would have to be someone bigger, stronger and more knowledgable than me. I need someone to push me and motivate. Kinda like the whole, if you play bball with someone better it forces you to get better I think.

alone. the only reason i have a training partner is bc he needs motivation and help. plus he is a good friend of many years.

Alone, reasons being schedules and routines. When I used to workout with a partner he would miss a day and it would mess up our routine.

it shouldnt affect u, just him. punish him by continuing with the routine as planned. he missed the day not u.

I've been training alone for about 6 months and I just glad to get a change. Plus I can get some forced reps without droping shit on me!

For bodybuilding I like to train alone. I do not like working around other peoples schedules. I also focus better by myself. If I was powerlifting I would like to train in a team environment.

I like both but it is really hard to find a good TP. I always plan on training alone but I have about five friend that train pretty hard so if I feel like I call each one and see if they are training what i am that day. If we match up great, if not train alone. no worries about schedules or people flakin. TP is always good on days when attempting PR's so you don't end up a story in the "moron" thread

Ideally, I'd train with someone else because I like the competitive atmosphere. However, I always find it very difficult to synchronize schedules and workouts; so I train alone now.

i like to switch it up, during the summer i love working out myself (sometimes i am the only one in the gym), then back at school i usally work out with a few different guys

Alone. I never do a one rep max, so spotter is not needed.
I have total flex of scheduling. Listen to my ipod, mind my business and workout.

I dont need anyone to motivate me. i look at my numbers each week. that points me in the proper direction.

I would consider a hot chick, who wanted to train and then give me oral(she would hv to be descrete)...muaaaa. but a guy training partner....No thanks.

Really depends on the partner. I've had two real good ones, but if they aren't really crazy, and dedicated and if they dont yell at me to get another rep when im tired and push me to my limit with forced reps i'm better off by myself

use to hate training alone until my partner got put on second shift and i had no other choice. now he is back on first and i've come to the conclusion it suxs having a partner...........specially when they are a pansy, lol!!!

I've tried both. Depends on the partner. I have a very intense traininga split. I rest 30 secs between sets. Lift very heavy. Drop sets. Giant sets. Supersets. Few gym partners last. They can't handle the stress.
