My gym doesn't play any music at all. I certainly don't NEED music while lifting but it usually helps me to focus and get psyched for heavier sets. The only annoying thing about having your mp3 player is that the headphone cord gets in the way doing rows and deads unless it is tucked into your shirt. I like listening to high octane shit like Batter Up, Over My Dead Body, First Blood, and Life Long Tragedy while lifting.
