ok wait, maybe I misread or didn't read. Oldandconfused left his kids when they were 6 and 9 yrs of their lives, then walked away?
If that's the case, then that is a different story.
I think ALL kids are better off w/out parents who are bad parents than to have them and they mess u up for life.
it's how I explain it so he understands that I can't drink, he sees my friends drink at the pool, partys, etc, but I don't. It's better than saying to a 10 year old, "I'm a recovering alcoholic/ addict, and alcohol fucked up a lotta shit for me." When he's older, I'll give him a better explanation. For now, he knows that some peole are "allergic" to things and that they make them sick...
I'm open for other/ better angles, you gotta kid too, what's your take on it...

I don't think I was meant to have kids, and that's ok with me. My first serious GF was a diabetic that had very little control over her blood sugar levels so the thought of her being pregnant with her BG out of wack potentially causing harm to the baby made us decide not to have any kids. Then when we split up and I met my current GF, she told me early on that she couldn't have children, so I had to make a decision whether I wanted to pursue this relationship or find someone that could potentially give me kids. I decided that this woman was too awesome to let go so that was it. We decided that instead of having kids, we would basically save our money and travel and enjoy life.
We have talked about getting some fish though......
