Do you have your appendix out?

I do, I had it out when I was 6 but lately my scar hurts. Sounds weird I know. Just wondering if anyone else has this..

no but i dont have a gall bladder

Had mine removed at 15. The scar is gone though as I had 12" of loose skin removed from my abdomen about 8 years ago. LOL

Nope. I plan to have mine kill me one day.

Mine exploded when I was young, but some how the poison stayed in a ball. Thank goodness! I think someone was looking out for me :verygood:

Its okay, Rambo. You're home now.

I had my appendix taken out a year or two ago

I am so grateful for my "surgeon". I don't have one huge scar along the side. My procedure went differently. They made 3 incisions...one right below the belly, where they stuck in a microscopic camera and got a picture of my appendix. One pretty much in my belly button, to cut out the appendix, and one right above the appendix, to "staple" it shut (as they explained to me). The scars are so tiny, you can't even see them. They're like those vaccine scars you have on your shoulder....cept even smaller and less noticable.

*phew* thank god for modern science

No. It doesn't hurt.

Someone answer me a question:

Why do appendix procedures leave LIFELONG scars??? You can have all kinds of other incisions for operations, etc. etc. -- and they leave nothing or heal. You could get a bullet-wound, and it'll heal up within a year.

I never figured that one out.

There is one word that strikes fear into the hearts of even the bravest men..

it's "catheter"

It's a mix between urinating fire and urinating needles...probably more like needles on fire.

The actuall operation didn't hurt, as I was asleep the whole time, and the scars only ached a little after the operation.

However, I couldn't stand up unassisted for about 1.5 days. There's this horrible stabbing pain in your abdomen, but after a few days, it pretty much goes away.

Razorguns = I'm pretty sure all operations that involve removing/modifying /fixing your internal organs leave scars.

WTF!?! :worried:
Why they do that? It's not that long of a procedure...

After the procedure, I had to go to the bathroom somehow, but I just couldn't force myself to do it. Finally, the nurse got tired of waiting, and the rest is history.

As I understand it, after the operation, I had a big fever, especially in the abdomen. These hot temperatures kinda disabled all of the "function" in that area....

I don't understand this...what did the nurse do?

I guy I knew had this done to him and he got an infection from it.

Didn't wanna get to explicit...but basically, a tube is stuck into your penis, through the hole. The end pokes a hole in your bladder, and drains the urine out. <--Tis what the nurse did to myself.

The fever could have been caused by infection, or just by the nature of the operation itself (cutting off an organ, foreign bodies entering your body, etc)....I forget.

I had my appendix out in college - about 12 years ago. I have a tiny scar, about 2 inches long on my side. It has faded SO much, barely noticable now only notice it when you are looking for it ...and the scar has never hurt.

Damn dude -- i think you got some major crock doctor. My appendix procedure, even being done like 20 years ago -- was nowhere near painful or problematic. I rarely remember anything about it now.

Makes me wonder though -- if i was born in some other century -- would I have been dead now? Maybe i was meant to die early then? Wow.. (internal reflection time).

I've had a few surgeries, some cosmetic (mastopexy, abdominoplasty) and some not (cystoceal repair at about 30, appendectomy at 15 - which included removal of ovarian cyst no one knew was their until they went to get my appendix, nissen fundoplikation at about 34).

NEVER have a had a problem with the scar hurting. I have permanent sutures holding together my abs though, sometimes when I straining as when I sneeze for example I feel a bit of pain along my abdominal wall.
