how are you guys w/ habits and daily routines? do you have to follow your routine more or less to a t otherwise you feel like a mess?

I'm starting to spiral outta control :(
I been waking up sooo freaking late and sleeping ridiculous amounts of time. The rest of my day is completely screwed as a result. i stopped lifting in the AM so that might have something to do with it.

i think i have way too much freedom for my own good. been working out of the house, have my own schedule, and i just been kind of going w/ the flow. if i wasn't the boss, i would have been fired along time ago. When i had employees i found a way to make it to work no matter what...now i don't have to, i doubt it's a good thing. i've always had a very tough time w/ routines because of my ADHD...can never seem to follow them for more than a week or two

any suggestions folks? greatly appreciated

The only thing that'll really work is if you decide what you want to do, give yourself goals, and accomplish them. If you want to wake up earlier, wake up. If you want to eat right, fucking do it.

Going out and getting fucked up will throw you off track for three days sometimes, but you know this.

When it comes to training and diet I've got some serious OCD. I train the same time every day, I eat the damn things over and over. Even my cheat meal ends up being the same thing week after week including being eaten on a certain day. I have to do it this way, otherwise I don't stick to it and lose focus too fast.

Routines become habit for me more or less out of guilt if I stop following them. That can be a good motivator, especially if used for personal betterment.

that's good though..like you said it keeps you focused. me on the other hand when it comes to lifting(at least the past 8-9 months since i got back into it), i find a way to get it done. not at the same time always, but i find a time to do it (helps that my gym is 24 hours on weekdays). eating well hasnt been a problem either...

it's more so affecting my work, time management and other random responsibilities.

jnev, i wish it was that easy for me. maybe it's a maturity thing? i dont know...ive always carried more weight on my shoulders than the average person my age because i've been involved in business since i could crawl..but i always got by/excelled just based on my talent and not so much my work ethic/consistency. bleh... this shit is frustrating

Are you still making gains this way?

You could set your clock by me on a daily basis. I'm a fanatic about schedules and routines. I try and impose my freakiness on other's too...Hubby hates it.

I get hives if anything is "off" my schedy. I'm a total freak...OCD for sure.

I'm getting freaked since I'm still working at this hour. Trying to get caught up for up coming vacation though.

When lifting I haven't looked to make any serious gains for years, so I guess you could call it maintenance. I not a hard grower, I could go on the test and jump right back up to 250-260 with ease. Cardio on the other hand I make strides by changing it up every so often. I like to run, but after awhile I know I gotta mix in some elliptical or advanced day hikes if I want to drop some more weight. Any time you do the same thing over and over again your body will adjust and after awhile it's no longer going to have the same effect it once did.
