Think your current job/career choice is gonna end up terribly? Thus causing your financial/money situation to go down. Thus causing your overall well-being and happiness to suffer?

I wouldn't worry about it. Guys with your prowess always find work. What was it you do again? :chomp:

I think you're just in a bit of a funk right now.

I think what you're doing is awesome. You're taking a risk to pursue a passion. Too few people are willing to take the chance. Worst case scenario it doesn't work out and you'll figure something out. At least you'll never have to look back and what if.

no. I'm pretty secure in my job. I do, however, often laugh at your job, and pray to someone that you have a trust fund coming your way.

no, i'm joking. I don't pray.

:)
pervert, you're doing well. relax.

Slinging coke to high school teachers isnt what I would call secure buddy. ;)

trust fund? my family's idea of a trust fund is putting our change in a empty sam's club pretzel jar, and leaving it out in the open and trust that no one will steal it

No. Well, at first I thought I had to go to law school to make more money. But, the more I learned about the type of law I work in and the many different paths I can take, I became more hopeful (it also helps working in the law dept. of an international co.). I have an interview next friday with a vendor, a database/IT position. My 2nd attempt to get with this company. The first position I didn't have that much experience for and didn't get called back for a 2nd interview. To be honest, I'm more of a behind the scenes person, so I'm actually relieved. Hopefully, things will be different next week (according to the recruiter the HR person for this position is looking forward to meet me).

That said, I do have side projects I'm working on to bring in extra revenue. Also, I don't want much out of life. I don't want a fancy car or clothes. I'm happy living in a studio. As long as I have enough to travel, attend a show once a month, and eat at my favorite places, I'm happy.

good post. i respect that.

however my problem is some times I am a bit caught up in nice shit. why? cuz i never had nice shit or had seen nice shit until I went away to college (Miami (OH) Univ). since then, i guess it still seems very "new" to me.

also i hate school. i graduated with a bs in biochem and a b.a. in something else. got a graduate degree in something else.

i honestly would never step one foot back into a classroom again. unless it was an AA meeting. Then I would walk in and chat for a while. those people are just so nice :)

Having nice things and being able to do certain things sometimes makes me feel guilty (like I don't deserve it), but that's a different topic.

I completely understand, I think I'm pretty much done with the school thing.

Have you done any research to see if you can make a left or right along your career path? My interview next week is the complete opposite of a paralegal position, however my 6 years experience is still valuable (in lieu of starting over). Would you be willing to relocate?

Stuff is stuff. I would up waking up one day thinking "wow, it looks like I have everything and I'm fucking miserable". Now that sort of stuff just doesn't matter. I'm not sure it did before. I think it goes back to the idea of doing what you think you're supposed to do without really questioning if it's what you want.

At least you know what you want. I hear there are great opportunities out there as walmart greeters. Chicks love the stickers.

lmao. no "right" or "left" in my career field. its all or nothing. thats why i get antsy at times

what is it that you're pursuing?

i just got a job offer in teh NYC (working in IT) which i'm almost certainly taking. it is a big jump in $ from my current job, but that ain't saying shit. my bank account doesn't seem to give a fuck about %age increases, only dollars...

although i don't obsess over money or do much with it, i think a 29 yo in my position should make more. i just don't like the idea of making less than i could. it's a game, and i'm behind because i'm a complete slacker. but working as a programmer can only go so far. the money and opportunity to advance is there, but it's still only a 9-5 job in the middle of someone else's empire.

nothing satisfies.

i couldnt wear the blue vests--otherwise I would totally be down for it. I was thinking of investing in a restaurant. Kinda like the cheesecake factory with nice entree's and also killer desserts. maybe cupcake factory. hmmm

nycgirl, what kind of database work? i would have liked to get a job working with oracle, but since this whole field is probably not right for me in the long run, whatevah.

and pervis, what is it that you're doing with your life right now which is so uncertain?
