I can't recall anyone's names unless I've known them for a few months. I can't remember things I was told a few minutes ago. if I need to do something or pick something up, I need to write it down and check on that every now and then, or I will just space. I sometimes am driving "home" and then realize that I'm driving somewhere else and have to reevaluate where the hell I'm supposed to be. I likely couldn't tell you what I ate yesterday unless I'm on a strict program that involves the same thing everyday - and then I'm not recalling yesterday, I just repeat what I had today...
yet my brain is full of random shit - like all of Wade Boggs' baseball stats up until 1989 (the year I stopped paying attention to sports), many many many lyrics and music for songs that aren't on the radio anymore, plots to nearly every book I've ever read, and an assorted array of random facts that I will never ever need other than to flex my dork-muscles in front of people that don't care.
an example of this just happened - I saw that there were a bunch of baseball posts now due to the Jose Canseco steroid deal going on. Jose was just getting big in 1988-1989 and so my brain was like, hey, that is something I have here... and it started tossing out facts into my consciousness - regardless of the fact that I don't give a shit.
for instance:
Will Clark. Bats left handed. Throws left handed. Plays first base. Played on the '84 USA Olympic baseball team with McGuire. In his first minor league swing he homered. In his first major league swing, he homered - and future Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan was pitching (I think for the Astros). In 1989 against the Cubs, Will Clark and Mark Grace went into a hitting duel at Wrigley Field. They were both having good days and in one inning they each fouled off pitch after pitch - eaching hitting roughly 15 foul balls before finally seeing a pitch they liked and they both homered. Clark went on to hit .333 that year and the Giants won the NL title but lost to McGuire and Canseco's A's after an earthquake delayed World Series. Kevin Mitchell was quite good for the Giants that year, and even caught a long pop fly in the left field corner with his bare hand.
then the dump just promtly ends and begins again on all the cards of his I have, how many of each, which are autographed, and where they are located in various boxes and cases...
WTF?
