Do you agree with Life..........

Do you agree with the sentence of Life in prison or do you think they should be put to death? Instead of are tax dollars supporting their life in jail?

I think they say with appeals and everything it costs more to execute someone than to keep them in jail for life.

That being said.....Kill them.

All the studies I've seen on this (not that I've studied this a lot) have said
It costs more to put them to death than life imprisonment,
because the death penalty automatically kicks in several levels of mandatory appeal / review,
plus they have to be kept in special death row cell blocks, etc...

So I'm not sure you can argue the death penalty from a cost/benefit standpoint.

And then there's the problem that so many wind up being exhonerated later when new evidence shows up.
You can let them out if they're given life in prison. Kind of hard to raise the dead if they've been executed.

I agree with the death penalty..... but they need to reduce the costs.

One, maybe two appeals and then Boom.... do it..... don't wait 15 years.

A better Idea is to send them to work camps and make them work off their stay. That way it keeps them off the streets and out of our pockets. Have them go make license plates or crush rocks or something....

I'm for life imprisonment if prisons for lifers become less confortable, inmates have less rights, appeals are less likely and parole doesn't happen. Otherwise, I think the death penalty is alright.

Vic, plornive...

no way.... the liberals won't have it! If you don't let them have cable TV, then it is cruel and unusual treatment

At this point in the U.S. Justice System's development I'd support life without parole over death. Simple reason being cost. It's actually more expensive to put someone to death because of the ridiculous number of appeals they get.

Death. It is only expensive b/c people make it expensive. Why do they swab the area to be injected with rubbing alcohol before the injection? Hate for the guy to die, and get sick.

1 shot to the back of the dome in a room with a drain in the middle. Bullets are cheap, the blood could be easily washed away with a hose, and go into the drain.

Death penalty, no question about it. If some sick fuck rapes and murders someone and gets life ... That just pisses me off. Kill him! Hell, I think the death penalty should be enacted for many felonies as well. The world's overpopulated as it is .... I'm tired of this "cruel and unusual" punishment crap too. Bring back the guillotine! Hangings! The firing squad! Sometimes I think the punishment should fit the crime too. Eye for an eye. That's my philosophy.

Too many anti-death penalty advocates utilize this bit of trivia as if it is relevant, along with the idea that the death penalty MAY not deter crime. This is not the purpose of capital punishment. The unwatered down reason is, 'ultimate penalty for the ultimate crime'.

And then there's the problem that so many wind up being exhonerated later when new evidence shows up.

There are times when I am torn over the problems with the justice system and the number of innocents that have been found to have been wrongfully put in jail, but the fact remains that recent investigations into executed prisoners has not shown wrongful execution of an innocent.

I think they should be used for drug testing and land mine clearing.
also heavy labor... the downside of anything where others make money off of them is that there is a benefit to getting more people in imprisoned - if you want the real conspiracy theory things going.

Look up a guy named Roger something in Virginia.

Some other s have been killed on some questionable evidence.

I support death in teh cases of absolute certainty - DNA, videotape, etc.

ither than that it is life. If we execute an innocent person we are iraq.

Roger Coleman.

anyone who thinks an innocent has never been executed has never heard of cases like the Scottsboro rape case. I'm pretty sure before the 1960's, a majority of executions were of blacks accused of raping white women.

Also Sacco & Vanzetti would probably qualify as innocents being executed, Vincent Teresa's father (a mobster in boston) confessed to him that they were innocent.

Funny that this question came up because I always told my friends and mom to have me put to death instead of life.....they say it's not what I want but what they want.

I'm only OK with Death when we are at least 99.9999% sure the dude did it. I'd hate for some innocent guy to get fried. With life in prison, you can let the guy go if new evidence comes up that shows he didn't do it.

I say kill them 'Swiftly'...

Think of all the extra meat we could feed to the other waste of space crooks. Plus all the leather we could make from their skin to keep the children of the world warm......

C'mon, It's a modest proposal.

I support vigilantism. That will not cost the tax payers anything. For instance if some scum murdered a family member while committing robbery, rape, etc. Just let someone in the family take care of the asshole. I know that I would.
