Do those ink refill kits work decent?

Ink cartridges are damn expensive. And i use quite a bit. You can can get a black or color refill kit at around $5. Compared to nearly $30 for a new cartridge.

Sometimes...I've found them to be inconsistent. Better off finding a printer supply store and trading in your empy for a refilled cartridge.

skip the refill kits and refilled cartridges, but even those don't refill 100%.

So they give you a couple bucks for your cartridges Project?

The printer makers have started "chipping" their cartridges so they self-destruct after you use them. You can refill them but they won't work. That way the makers can keep those prices up... which leads to the ridiculous spectacle of people finding it's cheaper to buy a new printer than a cartridge for their old one. (Keep those landfills busy!) So now they give you a "starter" cartridge with about a third the capacity of the regular one. It's as though they don't want your business.

Go laser. Inkjets were a nice idea once but they're a losing game now.

I used to use them then after a couple of refills they'd stop working. Maybe it's the chip thing digger mentioned. If you just doing light printing just buy another inkjet printed. The Lexmark one I buy at walmart is $35 with a color and black carts. The carts alone cost more than $35. Go figure.

buy the ink
buy the needle
stick in it. plug it up.
good to go.

What's so complex about it? I do it all the time with my HP.

A laser still uses ink though right Digger? What advantages will a laser have, other than quality of the print? Thanks for the help guys.

Yep that's what I do. Works great for the black. But it didn't work for the color.

How many reuses you get out of cartridge Razor? I got a lexmark by the way.

i dunno. 2 or 3 i guess.

i go to kinko's to do SMOOTH ass glossy color printing. I only b/w at home. When i do color it's gotta look good, so i don't waste time and money on my shitty home printer.

I've reinjected my black carttridge at least 3 times and it's still going strong...actually on my second printer!

It's not complex, but I've had cartridges that didn't work after being refilled, gunked up my printer...just wasn't worth the hassle, IMO.

The toner store here gives $4 or $5 (I think) credit for the empties, and you can buy a refill for like $10 less than a new one. If it doesn't work, they exchange it.

You refill it yourself and it doesn't work, you're screwed.
