There are some liquid versions of Finasteride (the active ingredient in Propecia and Proscar) out there if you do a little hunting, for a much better price.

I've heard of a couple (on the boards, I have no clue who they are) that said their doc's did that, the upside being your insurance may pick up the tab since Proscar is for BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia; swelling of the prostate); more than likely it would depend on your age, family history of prostate cancer, etc. on whether you'd be able to claim it on your insurance, but if you're paying for it yourself, I'd convince my doc to do it so I could save some money .
You can always get it from an online pharm too....
