do people who live in places where it stays warm all year long (texas, bermuda, whatever) catch colds?

im asking because i've been healthy as shit all summer long, and now that it just turned cold i have a fucking runny nose and shit. i hate being sick.

yes. cold and flu statistics do rise in colder seasons but overall you are just as likely to catch cold in mexico as you are in canada.

that's great for him, but the statistics do not lie. people associate colds with colder weather but the fact is a person can catch a viral infection any time of the year, many are seasonal but many are not.

actually let me correct myself wizkid. the statistics i have seen are for north america. i cannot comment as to south america. sorry.

Most of the common colds are spread via bacteria or virus through social commucations or through objects like payphones, door knobs, etc. It is mostly a myth that cold causes a cold, cold just makes it difficult for the body to fight the infection. However more serious strains of cold such as the pnemonia or severe lung inflamation can be achieved by staying in cold water or cold weather. Your best bet is to take concentrated doses of Vitamin C, upto 5 grams a day, and seeing that most of tabs are only 500 mgs, you will need to spread them out throughout the day. I hate summer colds more than winter ones personally

everyone and their mother is getting the damn flu shot out here. i think "kalyforneeans" are overly paranoid though.

my poor gramma still thinks colds are due to being cold... hmph.

If you want to know where the worst viral infections occur, Hong Kong may be it. A doctor here told me his opinion on why this is so:
1. High population density makes viruses more communicable
2. Rapid climatic changes compromise immune system
3. Birds settle in Hong Kong from Russia in the winter, bringing viruses with them
4. People share food and stay on close contact with each other for cultural reasons

yes, people in warm areas catch colds. There are "summer colds" which people had alot of in Texas this year.

I usually dont get colds, but once in a while I get a runny nose or a fever for 12-48 hours maybe once every other year.

Why do doctors advise getting a flu shot before "Flu Season"?

Why would there be a "Flu Season"? If it happens anytime?

Is it just more unlikely to "fight it" because of cold weather like revex said? or some other reason?

When the weather gets cold people are more likely to stay inside, so there is more social contact with other people

Well I live in Texas and I'm sick as fuck right now.

Sucks cause I'm never sick but when I am, I'm so sick I can barely get out of bed.
