not quite a diet question but, i want to know if u guys think i should start taking a weight loss supplement. i'm just getting started in the gym and my diet is good. i think i will probably see results pretty quickly just from the hard work in the gym and eating good. i'm pretty overweight... so what do u think i should do.

what are your stats?

ya they wouldnt help bro. no offence. i would try taking some themorexin. they work great. and a diet is your biggest concern. they wont harm you. why not take them. your not losing anything

well...i've kinda been down this road before...i lost about 40 lbs a while back...then when i broke my leg and couldn't walk for a couple months i got lazy again and gained it all back plus some. so from previous experience i know that i can lose a bit of weight before i take any supplements. so i was wondering if i should wait a while before taking anything and do it with just diet and exercise or should i go ahead and take them and maybe speed it up.

Diet pills won't help you at this point. Get your diet in check and lift hard and heavy at the gym. You should be lifting 3 times a week and doing some sort of cardio 3 times per week as long as it is OK with your doctor.

well..what i've been doing is...

-egg white omelet (4 egg whites, 2 slices of chicken, and 1 slice of ff cheese)
-4 oz of round steak and 1 c. of some kind of pasta (usually tuna helper or fett. alfredo that i cook without the butter and milk..just noodles and seasoning)
-2 scoops of protein after cardio and lifting
-at work...1 sandwich (wheat bread, 6 slices of chicken, 1/2 tbsp of lowfat mayo)
-1 nutri-grain bar or almond granola bar
-another sandwich

so far i've lost about 8 lbs in 2 weeks...i think it'll keep coming off pretty quick for a little while atleast since i'm pretty overweight.

You keep up that diet, maybe drop the 2nd sandwhich in place of another piece of protein (chx, fish, etc) and some fiberous veggies, and you'll get there.....also, nuti-grain bard are pretty much junk for the dieter......drop it........add some cottage cheese.........

alright man, thanks for the suggestions.. just so u know, the reason those sandwiches are even there is because i'm a truck driver. i drive for about 9 straight hours a night and there is no time to stop because im on a real tight schedule...so i take sandwiches b/c they are easy to eat while i drive...can u suggest anything to replace it that i can eat while driving?

Dude, you can eat ANYTHING while you're driving

It may not be the best advice in the world, but it's true. I've eaten my share of oatmeal and salads while driving (not at the same time... gross!) Pack up your tupperware the night before and throw it all in your truck in the morning. The *worst* that could happen is you'd have to pull over for 2 minutes to shovel in your chicken and salad... aren't those extra 2 minutes worth it for a better, more healthy body?

Yeah, in my opinion, supplements (with the exception of protein powder and vitamins) should only be used when you've come close to your body's full natural potential. Get your body in the best shape you can first with your diet and exercise. Then if you wanna push it a step further, consider the supplements ;)

you're right...im sure 2 minutes wont hurt anything either way...and i could probably eat a chicken breast or 2 down while i'm on the road
