Do I have low HGH levels?

I just got my hgh and test levels checked out of curiousity. Test looks fine: 6.61 ng/ml, but my HGH levels were 0.4 ng/ml...The doctor didn't say anything about it being low (she told me my mercury levels were high....canned tuna) It didn't really give me any discernable reference for what is normal... I'll copy the "reference":

Reference:
Adult > 18 years:
Pre-ambulation: <13 ng/ml
Pediatric < 18 years
Pre-ambulation: <5 ng/ml
Post-exercise: >5 ng/ml
Post-stimulation: >7 ng/ml

I am only 19 years old and I see no reason why they should be low if they in fact are, which they seem to be the case given they are way less than any of these numbers, which look like some sort of an upper bound of some sort...

okay, apparantly the normal range is
0-5 ng/ml for a healthy adult male....which means that mine are pretty damn low...

next question...advice?

I have looked at a fair amount of peoples bloodwork and , to my chagrin, have never actually seen an HGH test. I have only seen MD's run the IGF-1 to correlate with HGh levels.

IGF-1 is a little more stable so is considered by some to reflect what the HGH is averaging, however some do not consider IGF-1 to accurately reflect HGH levels.

Actual HGH is released in bursts from the pituitary and is a rather short lived molecule. Since it fluctuates you might have normal HGH at some times of the day and low levels at others.

But just based on what you posted it looks low.

What is your age?

I had it checked because I was having bloodwork done for some other things, and I was just curious... I havent done any hgh cycles or anything. I was actually worried about my mercury levels because I have been eating so much tuna lately (came back high btw, 16 of some unit/ml where 0-9.9 is normal) so I got my test/estr./prog./hgh tested along with it.

I am a nineteen year old college athelete who grew to be 6'0'', so I should have pretty healthy hgh levels... maybe I'll ask the doc to check igf1 next time I get blood taken to get a more accurate reading... thanks for the replies.

Testing HGH directly is passe, for the results are inaccurate. Today, you want to test IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 (IGF Binding Protein). The typical athlete has low IGF-1 and high IGFBP-3. Just seeing low IGF-1 is useless, for if the IGFBP-3 is high, this person has great genetics and maximizes his use of IGF-1. Bound IGF-1 is "good" IGF-1; free IGF-1 is unusable. If you have low levels of IGFBP-3, then you are either GH resistant or deficient. What is great about Long R3 IGF-1 is that it will help those even with low IGFBP-3 levels, for its highlife is much higher than even bound IGF-1. There is no known drug that just raises IGFBP levels--unfortunately.
