Do diet pills work?

Do diet pills work? I've seen several diet pills that say they work with no exercise or special diets. I was wondering if it works. I right now am on a diet I saw on this site and I wanna thank you guys for that but I'm just wondering about diet pills. Thanks a lot.

It's a marketing industry.

Nothing works w/out effort (exercise)

The magic pill is your determination in reaching your goals, and puttin' in some serious work to get there.

Diet pills supress your appetite and give you energy to work out in a low-calorie environment.

So yes, they will "work" if you eat less, but you won't get nearly the results you would have if you eat in a clean, structured manner, and excercise.

she says shes already on a diet.

To answer the question, as far as i know right now there are no truly effective diet pills. there are pills that have minor benefits but nothing substantial.

In 10 years that will hopefully change with a new generation of metabolism boosters, fat synthesis blockers and appetite suppressants. but right now you can barely hope to burn 150 extra calories a day and eat 200 less from taking dangerous diet pills.

theres other stuff too. ghrelin blockers that will (theoretically) be able to provide the appetite suppression obtained from gastric bypass surgery w/o the surgery. There are also a few drugs that block the enzyme(s) your body needs to store fat. Interesting stuff. but it will be decades before there are truly effective drugs on the market. right now all we have is Xenical and stimulants that have marginal benefits at best.

Can you recommend something I could use to help on my diet because I need to lose a lot of weight and fast for hockey.

Americans want to do anything to lose weight except stop eating.

It's such a shame.

damn right. and once a pill is developed that does that obesity rates and all the mental & physical problems that obesity causes will plummet. Technically you can 'cure' polio, AIDS, SARS, TB, the flu & the cold by telling people to never leave the house but people aren't going to do it, they want a vaccine so they can live their lives.

If you could take a diet pill and lose weight, why are there so many fat people around. Let's assume this pill exists but is expensive, Oprah, Star Jones, Rosie O'donnell, etc. could afford it and they would buy it by the case. There is no magic pill, diet and exercise is the answer.

Lets get back to topic. Some, now I'll say it again, SOME, diet pills DO actually work. How much they work, it depends. But the right ones do have a place in dieting. Look into Ephedrine HCL, Yohimbine HCL, Caffine, and Clenbuterol. You'll find some answers there.
