DNP and DOMS

brewers

New member
wierd. did a very light weight leg day on wednesday as i didn't have much in the tank because of dnp and just being tired. heres the workout i did...

squats 185 3 sets of 12
calf raises 115 3 sets of 15
leg extensions 3 sets of 10
leg curls 3 sets of 10

Funny thing is with those light ass weights, Ive got the worst case of DOMS. calves hurt bad. trouble walking, both from pain and muscles just not wanting to work. You think the dnp has something to do with it, or am i just a pussy all of a sudden? :worried:

DOMS is common and annoying, it is not a necessary part of getting into shape. There are many things you can do to prevent, avoid and shorten DOMS. Here are a few tips....
Warm up thoroughly before activity and cool down completely afterward.
Perform easy stretching after exercise.
When beginning a new activity start gradually and build up your time and intensity over time.
Start a new weight lifting routine with light weights and higher reps (10-12) and gradually increase the amount you lift over several weeks.
Avoid making sudden major changes in the type of exercise you do.
Avoid making sudden major changes in the amount of time that you exercise.

Since you are already sore and experiencing doms...

Wait. Soreness will go away in 3 to 7 days with no special treatment.
Avoid any vigorous activity that increases pain.
Do some easy low-impact aerobic exercise - this will increase blood flow to the affected muscles, which may help diminish soreness.
Use the RICE method of treating injuries.
Use gentle stretching om the affected area.
Gently massage the affected muscles,
Try using a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication..aleve works wonders for me.
There is some evidence that vitamin C may decrease soreness.
Allow the soreness to subside thoroughly before performing any vigorous exercise.
Don't forget to warm up completely before your next exercise session.

I dont know if the dnp has anything to do with the doms..i do know that i find whenver i am on accutane i get doms pretty bad. It may be a side effect of dnp, i personally dont know.

I hope that this helps you out. if you do these things routinely i believe it may prevent alot of what is happening. Make sure your drinking plenty of fluids too.

thanks for that info, but i am well aware of what doms is and hw to "fix" it. im just wondering if i got it because of the dnp, as it was a really light workout.

dnp is sucking your bodys metabolic reserves dry. reserves that would otherwise be used to rebuild your body after a workout. sure, working out light sometimes stimulates muscles differently (different stabilisation compared to normal, different range of motion compared to normal etc because we all tend to fall into workout patterns) but common sense would suggest taht being on a really intense drug that rips up your bodys ability to repair itself is probably going to make a light workout hit you as hard as a heavy workout

personally i found more tendon pain when i used dnp, rather than pain in the muscle itself.

then again, i was still working out heavy

cheers
