Divorce settlements, do the men get paid?

Lets say I marry this girl im messin with , she is very well off, owns a bunch of real estate, lamborghini, others cars, etc, etc. If i wind up quitting my job to start a business with her, i would be basically ruining my career. If things dont work out, do I get paid when we get divorced just like a woman would???...no prenup of course

I think wealth accumulated during the marriage is split, man or woman...but the stuff she had before you married her would be off-limits most likely.

I think one of the factor into consideration when judging divorce settlements and ownerships of certain things is the reason for divorce. If you screwed another woman during the course of the marriage, that's not going to look good when you appear to the court hearings & certainly won't give your case much weight.

i'm not sure about other states but i know here in colorado it's 50/50 no matter who makes the money! If your caught for adultry you automatically get 90% of everything the spouse owns. I think there's only been one guy in colorado to take an adultry case to court, everyone laughed at him because they thought the court would side with the wife ironicly the judge was a woman and the husband ended up winning

Totally agree, especially about the part where it is up to the whim of the judge.

This doesn't change if you live in a state where equitable distribution is the case. Trust me on that one.

Whatever assets you and she had before the marriage remain yours so one would think it would make things cut and dried.

My wife gave me everything. The house, the money, the vehicles. I let her have whatever she wanted for her apartment so she took some furniture and all of her clothes, plus a few other things I liked, but legally it's all mine. She went for nothing.

I know a man who was married to a woman who ran/owned a car dealership. He was a salesman there. They divorced & she paid him alimony & a settlement!! So it is possible.....

Me, it was/is anything but and I got fucked but hard... and NO KY. Part of it was due to horrible legal representation/part of it due to my confusing not wanting to fight with laying down like an imbecile - ie - not understanding the difference between being amiable and being a shmuck/part of it due to judges, cops, etc who could give a fuck about fairness and justice and "shticking it to some cunt" all the while raking THE KIDS over the coals.

So to answer you - yea, it DOES happen. I know of 3 other cases with similar circumstances.

Yeah, I know it sounds too good to be true but it is. It's one of the reasons why I am still willing to do anything for her even though we are divorced. I'm giving her all of our tax return (she would have had to pay in if we filed seperately), I bought her a new chair for her apartment plus some appliances. She knows that if she needs anything I'm there for her in a second, even now, and even down the road.

I stand by my promises, even after the fact.
