Discrimination in the Army

I understand his position but he just needs to STFU and lead, if he wants to be promoted and lead...that means motivating the people under your command; Leaders motivate with false hope all the time...

Agreed. If he doesn't like it he can get the hell out and let someone that wants the job and can suck-up the shitty parts. All the military branches have embraced multiple religions and have services for the big 3 and a handful of the others, Wikken(sp?) included.
Next thing you'll hear is that a Specialist, Private, Seaman or Airman trying to sue for discrimination because they have to clean the toliets.

I've noticed a lot of atheists are socially backwards...his problem is that he's socially backwards, not an atheist. I never pray in public settings, but usually bow my head and pretend(even if they are praying to the whore omg) I'm not so socially retarded that I would make a big deal out of not praying, especially in a situation like that...how does he not understand to just stfu? Gotta learn how to live and work with other human beings, Vulcan.

Doesn't seem socially backwards to me. It's a question of how much pressure there is to conform. I don't trust that bald mouthpiece for a second. If the expectation is that you get deep into the bullshit or you're ostracized or threatened, that's a problem. Maybe this is how things change, or maybe things never change. Either way, fuck 'em.

Cindy is right Jack. Being Socially intolerant is no difference between being Religiously intolerant. They can't force him to actually pray. But since he wanted to throw a bitch fit they threw one back on him and larger.
He chose to start his battle in the wrong place and time.

I kinda wish I hadn't bumped the other thread. I like to see people change their minds over time, it's not a sign of weakness or being inconsistent. The cost of growing as a person usually means you have to disagree with yourself once or twice.

lololol@ the call out of bumping the other thread

lol @ cindy trying to make a point...I was a soldier before I didn't believe in Santa Clause just like I'm a businessman after giving up a belief in Santa Clause; Leadership can't be taught...you understand how to lead or you don't....

When I was 17 I officially had my dog tags read "No Pref RCD."

That meant I had no religious preference for my burial; I was a peer leader and could assign them to cleaning toilets but I chose to explain and debate my lack of dogmatic religious belief; At the time I was technically a Christian but I challenged the dogma...I was called an atheist, so years later I adopted it as a badge of honor; If thinking is atheism then I'm all for it but would never force it on another person.

that is a pretty big assumption...is that how you make most of your decisions?

There is about the same amount of evidence for Santa Clause as for Jesus...after all..I believe in Jesus because that's the name of the guy that mows my lawn...he's probably illegal since I have to speak with him in Spanish.
