I am looking at getting a 3 - 4 megapixel camera. Anyone out there have one and what do you think of it?

I am looking seriously at the Canon G1, Nikon Coolpix 995 or the Oly 3040 Zoom.

Bump........cuz I know some of you are so in love with yourselves that you can't wait to have 35mm film developed LMAO

Come on surely someone on here has some good advice on which digi cam to go with.

yeah i need some advice too. i'm getting a digital camera for christmas. I'm not getting a top model... just something in the $150 range.

Just make sure you search online first. They have sony mavicas that retail for $1200 for $700. I even found my video camera cheaper on one of those comparison site pricelists than they were selling it for on ebay. So you might be able to get a $300-400 model.

I'm a cheap fuck I use a Fujicam finepix 2300 2.3 megapix, it's cost around $350 (us) approx.
Musclesbrains is right on the light conditions, regardless what digicam you use their mostly all shit in bad light conditions.

Nikon Cool has worked well for me but digitals are still not a substitute for the real thing, especially in difficult lighting.

What if you add a flash?

I know that digitals right now won't replace my 35 mm Pentax but it just seems a helluva lot more convenient.

i have a fujifilm finepix 40i

i love it but make sure you have a lot of rechargeable batteries. ideally a lithium battery is better, but this cam has a flash, timer, macro photography (and for whatever reason, an mp3 player). buy a bigger card for it than the 16mgs or whatever they give you.

i just had a poster printed from a pic i shot, and there was NO digitalization at all. i was so impressed.

low light is the only drawback to the cam... it just won't work.

it goes up to 4.4 megapixels or something.

it was about 500-600 US i think

I have a canon s20, my buddy has a g1. The g1 can record avi's and also has hot shoe and a couple of other features. For the coin right now, the s20 is probably a really good deal since they don't make them anymore you can probably get it for around 850-900$ canadian. Which would be about 13.50$ US.

LMAO......nice exchange rate.

I read that the G1 is an awesome camera but all of the gizmos that it does have can be confusing.

I've had an Olympus 2020 for like 2 years and it is unbelievably easy to use and with the expanded memory card (32 or 64Meg) can hold like 100 high-res images and even takes 15 sec mpeg videos. It handles 2.1 Megapixels and the pics are really nice quality.

I think I paid like $300 for it through cNet. Plus it comes with rechargeable batteries that last forever.
