Digital Cable sucks.

Shit gets all jumpy all the time. Can't even watch a movie without the garbage skipping around. I'm gonna get rid of it soon. The only reason I have it is because of the $19.99 a month deal for 3 months or whatever. But, that's ending soon, so I'm gonna cancel it.

Should I drop down to Basic Cable? What does Comcast charge for that + cable modem?

I'm thinking of just getting rid of cable TV, and maybe getting DSL put in. It's like $15 cheaper a month than Comcast.

Any of you weiners have any good suggestions?

That's the thing. I don't really watch it much at all. The only thing I watch is movies. And that's kinda rare.

I normally just have the TV on when I'm bullshitting on the computer, just for some background noise.

Maybe I will just get rid of it.
 
I don't know, I'm going to do the same.. still got to look into what would be cheaper, cable internet + basic tv cable, or just drop it all and only get the internet. Probably going with DirecTV.
 
$15 cheaper per month for DSL? that'd get me to go with DSL over cable.

i only pay $30/mo for cable. they just upped our speeds too, so i can hit 125kb/s on a download now (i'm paying for their slowest speeds too). i live in the sticks, however, so that's why it's dirt cheap.
 
I have a package deal, which includes high speed internet and digital cable.

It works out to be cheaper for me to get digital cable than to get basic doing it this way. I don't watch much television myself, other than movies (Independent Film Channel) and documentaries (Discovery Civilizations, National Geographic Channel........etc).

I basically wanted this package for the high speed internet. The televison channels are merely a bonus.

ps: My picture quality is always superb, and I've had digi-cable for about a year now.
 
I suggest getting basic cable and while you're at it get rid of internet access and do us all a favor.

Nice.

Anywho, you could drop down to basic cable and do DSL, or if someone near you has a wireless network cheap go for that. At my apartmetn complex I pay $25 a month for basic cable and a t1 connection (ahhh... college towns).

I like digital cable. Most of the time I usually just have it on the metal music channel. That alone is worth the price of admission. :garza:

Seriously the jumping might be a bad connection or something else technical. I`d call for a service checkup.

Meh.

I'd be getting rid of it in another 3 months anyway, when the entire deal is over, and it goes up to like $80 a month. Fuck that.

I'll shop around and see if I can find some cheap service package.

Fine...then don't come on here bitching for the next 3 months complaining that your screen is all jumpy like a scene from War of The Worlds.
 
FZ go with out cable I have for almost a year. There is nothing really good on tv anymore anyways I get about 5-6 channels as is.

yeah I don't use cable either.. stupid crap is $40 a month for basic service cause cox has no competition out here...

better to spend the time in the gym anyways...

Yeah my digital cable fucking blows. Sometimes shit doesn't decode right away and the picture is all pixelated and then comes into focus, or there are remnants of previous frames. What a joke.

What's your service FZ?

I have DSL anyway for internet. It's like 30 bucks for 1.5mbit down, but I think that's special.
 
it's allright. Still better than just normal cable. i just hate the menu system, preferring the more intuitive directv menu system. Also the cost, which is very prohibitive with digital. I'm paying like fucking $50 for like the total 2 hours a month that i watch. I'm one of the suckers in life you always hear about.

Like I said even basic cable out here is $40 bucks...
Digital Cable is $50 bucks...
I don't have southern exposure so I can't get dish...
High speed cable internet is $40 for up to 3MB downstream/256K upstream
High speed cable internet is $80 up to 4Mbps Download/384Kbps upload
DSL 256K/256K for $27/mo

I really don't see how any of it is worth it when I could be doing something productive... I just get cheapo dialup ISP at home from arczip.com... it is only 14.95/mo has pretty decent speeds and there is no bs or crapware installed on my computer, etc... (I got the dial up number from them and configured it myself)

it is all a scam IMO...
 
you don't even "need" 3mb download speed unless you're running multiple computers or you're the kazaa porn king or something. 1MB works pretty damn good for a single computer.
