We have a "feedback loop" with AOL and Yahoo -- when one of their users complains about getting spam from us, they push it back to us.

We have people here who think it's okay, or funny, or something like that, to sign up to get email notices of their subscribed threads and then report them as spam.

Let me explain this in small words: IF YOU ASK FOR IT, IT IS NOT SPAM.

If you can't be bothered to go to your profile and turn off the notices, I will solve the problem for you by banning your ass -- and then posting your name right here so everyone knows why you're not around any more.

Thank you for not contributing to the problem.

Not exactly clear on what people may be violating.
When you get lots of emails numbering in the hundreds, it makes sense to just say junk email.
Are you saying that we need to do someing to our profile and if so, how, I had several what I consider spam from EF that I just moved to junk mail. It was hotmail but, really. Not to try and give you guys a problem but I think when you visit your email and the options arent exactly clear, that you move it towards spam filtering which they are in essence.

Is their some procedure you recommend so that to quit getting default spam mail from EF. I think that if you set the default to not give it then most wouldnt report it as spam.

Otherwise, please give us a detailed description on how NOT to get spam from EF in our inboxes. Most people dont request it, its the default from my experience..

So, I think the solution lies at your end, if not, then tell us a step by step way to avoid the situation without threatening banishment for a intrusive issue that members dont create

There are two "receive email from admins or other member" buttons you can uncheck in your profile.

The thing is, I'm still getting the emails even with these boxes unchecked.

My boxes are unchecked yet I still get periodic emails.

Digger mentioned the "subscribed thread" stuff.. now if somene has their subscribed thread notification on and then reprots those emails as spam then that is a fool.. I remember getting those at first because every thread I posted on was automatically subscribed.. i changed that up and never got one of those emails again.

I do get stuff about once a week though.. articles and what not.

Go to default subscription mode and put "Do Not Subscribe" or "No e-mail notification". You will stop receiving e-mails when threads you posted in are updated.

I rarely ever read stickies EVER, but when Digger says something, it usually means people are pissing him off and there is merit

So, really, Im not sure if I move stuff to junk mail in hotmail that Im pissing him off.

Literally, I had like different EF emails every day or more.I dont remember requesting anything so I dont think Im making an annoyance here. But, I think that just cuz yahoo and Aol do that stuff then who knows.

Regardless, there are too many stickies here and no one pays attention so Im just giving attention to the issue

btw, k to everyone here for helping bring this Digger annoyance to the masses, he'll hit you later

Definitely, I hope he realizes this isn't to piss him off but rather to correct the issue. While there are still members who fail to uncheck that box, there some who still receive these annoying emails.

btw i hope he hits us with green, not red.

i love this thread

I'm not talking about George's little fireside chats. I would hope you'd cut him some slack, but that's not what this is about.

AOL has a button that says "REPORT THIS AS SPAM." People are using it on subscribed thread notices, which you control in your profile.

You do NOT have to use the "report spam" button to delete a piece of mail, and you shouldn't lie to AOL about us. That's all.
