Digestive Enzymes, Are They Useful Or Useless?

Bill Phillips said in his supplement review that if you body is fully working you don't need digestive enzymes. Since i am lactose intolerant, that leads me to believe that my body may be altered and i may benefit from digestive enzymes. So i spend the money or are they a waste of money?

yes they do work, i have had two girlfriends that had stomach problems and they both took digestive enzymes and it helped them!!!

G-Man

I have been using them lately and they have worked for me. I was getting gas from eating so much, but since I started the enzymes my problem is gone

I have always had chronic digestive problems. It is by far my biggest challenge. I have always had problems with stomach bloat due to indigestion in the stomach. This makes it very difficult to get in the necessary calories. I have taken enzyme pills before with questionable results. The problem with most of the "digestive enzyme" pills are that they try to put too many things in them which makes them not practical on a s-7 meal a day diet. But, lately I have looked further into all of the key components within the pills to better analyze exactly what I need. I have found that the main ingredient that I needed was more acid in the stomach. I got a a product called HCL with Pepsin which contains: Betaine HCL 250mg, Glucamic Acid HCL 100mg, Pepsin 150mg, Papaya leaves 100mg, and serving size of 1 capsule. I also purchased a product calle Super Digestaway which contains Pancreatin 4X (equivalent to 700 mg Pancreatin) 175 mg which is equivalent to 17,500 units protease activity, 17,500 units amylase activity, and 1,400 units lipase activity, serving size 1 capsule. I have found that the acid REALLY helps with digesting those in between meal protein shakes. I also take 1-2 of the enzyme capsules before meals which seems to help. But, the key to the pills working for me was finding out which component I needed the most (the acid) and increasing the dose until I found the point that I needed. The reason that I say this is important is that the last ones I tried to take were like horse pill size tablets with a serving size of 3. This makes it inpracticle for someone who eats 6-7 times a day. Search online and study which ingredients do what to determine which ingedient you need. Then just do trial and error.

Way to know your body bro, thats what its all about. Paying attention to your body and trial and error. Karma for you.

Go to walmart and by otc Lactaid, great for lactose intolerance. I take an animal pack with big meals and that help, their loaded with digestive enzymes vitimins and a lot of somewhat useless shit as well.:)
