Hello people. I would like to know more about the way muscles work by using different grip... anyone whats to aducate me? :) Thank you.

What are you doing with these various grips? Beating off differently, pushing people off the sidewalk differently, yanking your girls hair differently?

LOL, gotta be tha bench man. It's like the only exercise that counts.

ok if everyone is done being stupid... :) what i want to know is for different muscle groups what kind of exercises are there that you can modify by using different grip and how will it affect the muscle growth. like for lats... which part of the lat does the wide grip lat pull down work, and if you use a narrow grip? i would like to know about every muscle and many different exercises too. maybe someome has a link to an article or something? thank you.

Wide grip vs narrow grip pullups (pulldowns) doesnt really work the body too differently, but it does change which muscles have to work harder. Wide grip works the lats more, narrow grip works the forearm and bicep more. You can modify any workout by changing your hand position. Supinated (palms toward face) pullups work the bi less because it is at a greater advantage. Pronated pullups work the bi more and the forearm more because the bi is at a mechanical disadvantage.

The list could damn near go on forever.

Also... When doing Bent-Over Barbell Rows the wider your grip is the more you work the inside muscles of the back. The narrower the grip the more you work the outside muscles.

In Arnold's opinion, Wide-Grip Pulldowns/Pullups put more of the stress on the upper lats. When doing Close or Medium-Grip Pulldown (Palms facing each other) more stress is put on the lower lats.

With working biceps and brachioradialis, if your pinky is above the thumb on the curls (made easiest with the EZ bar curl), you will better target your biceps. The more you have your thumb over your pinky (or when your hand is straight up in down like it is when you're jerking off your uncle), the less it targets biceps and the more it targets the bracioradialis.

The lesson is to use the EZ bar for curls. No momentum, back straight against the wall.

Elbow position makes a differance too. Wide grip elbows out benching favors pec development. Close grip benching with elbows angled towards your feet works triceps more.
