difference between crystal DNP and powder

ive been attempting to figure out what the difference between this crystal DNP stuff people here are talking about, and the powder.. I come from a chemistry background I infact had a 250mg lab supply bottle of DNP from a reputable chemical supply (and it doesn't really look much like crystals to me either way, more like yellow wetted sand) so really do you mean powder DNP is cut with an unknown amount of adulterants to make it a powder and crystal isn't? I don't have much experiance on using DNP (ive just read up on it for the past couple of months before deciding to order some) and from doing a cycle where I took 200mg (dryed from the supply bottle I have) for 4 days along with all the reccomended suppliments, than bumping to 400mg I don't seem to find it all that crazy compared to what most people seem to be saying about crystal DNP, is it perhaps that what people are dubbing crystal DNP isn't really pure DNP at all, but perhaps it combined with another unknown substance (since chemicaly speaking a chemical is a chemical, theres just different levels of purity and what I have has an assay of 99.95%+) any comments would be appriciated.

I believe the difference between crystal and powder dnp is that powder dnp contains a certain % wetness, while crystal dnp is 0% wetness...

YUM

yes, when DNP is shipped its wetted to 15% to prevent explosion, although I still don't see where the "crystal" description comes from since when I dryed mine out, still looked rather powdery to me!

Crystal Dnp is missing a hydrogen from its hydroxide group. I believe if you react powder DNP with sodium you'll get crystal DNP.

Chemistry and pharmacology of crystal vs powder DNP has been discussed ad naseum.. Do a search under my name.

I just did that and read most of it, although im noticing some contridictions that im unsure of from a chemistry standpoint. Generally with organic molecules, when you hit them with a base, it causes them to convert to their alkaloy freebase states which is generally *less* soluable in water, and what you're proposing by mixing it with baking soda sounds exactly like doing that.. the confusing part for me is DNP isn't sold as a salt, its sold as a freebase (its not DNP Hcl, HBr, etc) and when it hits your stomach and gets converted by the acid in there into a Sulphate (since its sulpheric acid) that should infact make it more water soluable.. I could be missing something here because I have little experiance in dealing with Phenols, but the logic seems a bit backwards from my typical experiance..

Allllriiiiiight...... looks like we've got ourselves an amine cook here! :)

DNP is a weak acid. When it is ionized by a base, it' becomes a water soluble salt. YOu're thinking of amine compounds when you hear 'name-of-drug'-hcl (for instance). These are converted to salts with acids since amines are bases-- opposite of DNP.

When the DNP hits the HCL (by the way) in your stomach, it is reconverted into 'powder.' The water soluble salt gets more dispersed though, before this happens. This results in more solvation and higher absorption.
