I recorded this on TLC last nite........ it's a show about extremes in dieting, etc.....

The first person they showed was a 800lb man who had to be carried out of his house by firemen & had to have emergency gastric bypass surgery....

Now is a woman who exercises daily but binge-eats while she's asleep!! She's gained over 50lbs & they are calling it "nocturnal eating disorder." She's actually sleeping & eating.......

Unbelievable....

Oh God, the pro-anorexic web sites are horrible!! Their mantra is "Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels." They promote no food, no liquid, get a ana-buddy, etc....... soooo very sad.... And the pictures of the anorexic girls are scary....

I've seen a couple a while back, but they use to get shut down right away (the sites) - I most likely saw something on Maury/Jenny/Sally and checked on web to see what the heck they were talking about.

There was some show on E! focusing on weight loss (and Hollywood) and I just about puked, had to change the channel... bones=Not sexy to me at ALL

No wonder there are so many screwed up people. If the media would can it w/ the "heroine chic" and the bullshit diet strategies, and if they would just teach people basic nutrition, like in high school, maybe we wouldn't need to know about such things as stomach by-pass surgery.

Not 10 min ago there was a girl talking to a guy across the desk from me saying she was doing a cleansing diet and wanted to lose 20 lbs, but hates exercise. Then when the guy said just cut the crap out of the diet and run, she said she'd rather go get lipo. I told her if she doesn't change her diet & lifestyle, even w/ lipo, she'll just gain the weight back but in different places. She said she'd just go back again for more lipo.

God, no wonder there are so many fat people in the world. W/ that attitude, there's no chance in hell they'll ever see their feet again.

I just held my comments.

Why waste your breath right? I would LOVE for you to hear all the worthless drivel that spews from the fad/complusive dieters at my office, HOURLY if not every 10 minutes..

Damn Sassy, I just saw this http://www.elitefitness.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=15961&sort=1&cat=500&page=3

I've noticed

That was very proud day. But it also showed me that I could've done 2-3 more weeks of dieting to get my legs cut.

Hmmm, maybe this time around....

I hate the "heroin look." Ugh!! I have no idea why that is popular.....

All the crap on TV & the latest "get thin now" schemes are all BS..... what people don't want to hear is eat right & exercise....

Now, I feel plastic surgery does have it's place, but there are people getting it who don't need it & those who get it who could use some exercise.....

I love the magazine headlines -- one is all about how MaryKate Olsen is too skinny, look how skinny Jessica Simpson, etc. are. Then the next mag will have the article about "How Jessica stays slim". Then they talk about how Hillary Swank packed on 20 lbs of lean muscle.

I'd rather see headlines about how "US Women maintain an avg 19% bodyfat for the 5th year in a row!" or "Congress recommends 2 gym classes per day for children in elementary school".

Now, Sass, c'mon.....be realistic..... the US is a country of extremes....

Extreme Makeovers for you & your house, etc......

it is really sad!! I am doing a report about childhood obesity and the facts here in america are really sad... We spent the most money on diet products but we are the fatest nation.. what is that about? Did you know that big business are now funding the textbooks put in childrens classrooms so that while they are doing there algebra they will also see a coke add. That has this world come to

I did a term paper in high school psychology class on anorexia..... I think a lot of the information has changed, been disproven, etc but everything I had seen at the time was very worrying....now with the internet = :worried:
