DIet Coke

Here's one perspective... but I'm still a coke drinker

WATER
1. We all know that water is important but I've never seen it written down like this before.

2. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (Likely applies to half world population.)

3. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.

4. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.

5. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a U-Washington study.

6. Lack of water - the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

7. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

8. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

9. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

Are you drinking the amount of water you should every day?

COKE

1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days.

3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.

4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a crumpled-up piece of aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, Remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for
sumptuous brown gravy.

8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your
windshield.

FYI:

1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its Ph is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in
osteoporosis.

2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

3. The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would you like a glass of WATER or COKE?

I drink a lot of crystal lite, actually. I cannot stand the taste of plain ole water. I also mix 2 liters of water in a jug with a cup of lemon and a few splenda packets. Very refreshing after a hard workout or first thing in the morn.

Diet Coke is the shit. I drink 3-4 cans/day, but I also drink at least 2 liters of water a day too. Result: I piss every 15 minutes.

"COKE"

"1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway after a car accident. "

Since there is no source cited, this statement is suspect.

"2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days."

Put a steak in your mouth, chew, swallow....hopefully it will be gone in less than two days.

"3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china."

If it is citric acid that is doing this, then add some orange juice to the toilet and it will do the same thing. Does this make orange juice bad?

"4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a crumpled-up piece of aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola."

Puke on the rust spots and tell me what happens.

"5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion."

Again puke on your terminals.

"FYI:"

"1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its Ph is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis."

The hydrochloric acid in your stomach is in the 1-2 pH range, so knowing a little about human physiology tends to eliminate any worry about the pH of Coke. Phosphoric acid has been looked at as a potential for osteoporosis, but with this ailment being multi-factorial (low resistance exercise, low calcium diets, longer life-spans, etc.), it is not the main culprit

"2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

3. The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!"

No sources for #2 and 3, so no way of saying it this is true or not.

"Now the question is, would you like a glass of WATER or COKE?"

Well with water, there is the potential of heavy metals, coliforms, Cryptosporidium, Giardia, etc. Coke just tastes damn good.

I totally agree with cockdezl, in fact I am going to totally eliminate water from my diet and consume 2 gallons of coke a day.

I'd drink 5+ litres of water a day in addition to my Diet Coke. And you think you piss often... ;)

I drink at least a gallon sometimes two gallons of water a day but I gotta have my diet coke especially while dieting. It just makes it a little bit easier. - cbeaks

Ummmm, most of this is not true. It's been floating around the net for a few years now, and if you do a net search for "urban legends", or go to www.snopes.com , under "cokelore", you will find the truth. Also that stuff about water has been mostly debunked, as far as the 75% dehydration, etc.

Just my 2 cents.
