since the snow blows, my only release is to take one of the cars out and hit a parking lot for some donuts on my way to the store. cop actually pulled me over for this! WTF?!
crak600 said:i think i got real lucky. he came up to the car with a smile and says "what are you doing?"
'uhh, having some fun officer.' i was laughing my ass off.
"and your alone too! that's the worst part!"
'no, i really only do this when i'm alone. bit safer that way.'
"you guys are killing me tonight! lemme see your license."
i look like i'm 18 but i'm 26, should've seen the look on his face when he saw my license.
"you have any alcohol tonight?"
'no, learned that lesson the hard way a few years ago.'
heard a cop on the other side of the car say something. cop i was talking to said "nah, i'm gonna let him go."
told me to knock it off and have a nice night. he couldn't keep a straight face the entire time, neither could i. he also advised me to find other parking lots, but wouldn't say which ones.
so yeah, guess i got lucky. they had prolly written a few tix already tonight, at least that's what it sounded like. next time i scout out the lot before hand, cause that's a nice one for snow fun![]()
crak600 said:yeah, he was pretty cool. he also told me that a while back, some "idiot" was doing what i was doing in the same parking lot, went over the curb, and took out a telephone pole, which knocked out power for 1/2 the town...and HE had to write the report. i will say this...while it is reckless to be spinning the car out of control like that, i've played in the snow enough with both of my cars to know how to get them back IN control fast. sliding around in parking lots has actually helped me driving on the snow, cause i know how the car is going to react. well, at least it sounds like a good excuse for having some fun![]()
TheOak01 said:unless the owner had a issue with it they cant do anything, you can drive without a liscense in a parking lot since it isnt a highway or roadway, atleast up here
guards said:
you can be charges with reckless driving even if you don't have an actual driver's license.
If i lent my car to someone that didn't have a license, would this mean they could drive all over town as long as it wasn't on the road?
I've had a couple of friends charges with reckless for doing burn-outs and breakstands in parking lots.
TheOak01 said:
if they drove all over town they had to be on the road, unless driving on lawns in that case its reckless liscense or not, but in a parking lot which is private property the rules of the road dont apply,or shouldnt and your friends could have fought that because its private property, I wish I had my criminal code I could look it up
JBRO said:i wisj we would get som esnow or ice. its been friggin 70 degrees and raining all week.

powerslave said:Weird. I would've thought since it's private property, unless someone called and complained that the cops can't really do anything.
guards said:
sounds like a pretty kewl cop

Private property only counts when its YOURS and there is no public access rights... both of which are in danger of disappearing for ever thanks to our Unpatriot acts.

not over here bro,the u.s and other places may be different but unless the owner files a complaint your fine
crak600 said:girlfriend was working this morning (waitress). one of her customers said "do any donuts in your civic lately?" she looks at him and says "you're the cop that pulled him over last night, weren't you?" he started laughing. said he couldn't ticket me because i looked like i was having too much fun
he told her he thinks that there should be somewhere around her that people can do things like that, and he hates having to chase people off. said the only reason he does is because of the telephone pole incident that happened in that parking lot. he did tell her if he sees me doing it again, he might have to ticket me, but didn't say what for.
oh, he also told her "damn! that car spins REAL nice!"
i'm good![]()

Not entirely true. REgardless of who's property it is, if there is reasonable evidence to suggest that an indictable offence has occured, even a hybrid offence, they can go after you with or without the property owner's consent.
If i smoke drugs on your lawn, they don't need your permission to bust my ass.
This goes for anything in the criminal code, exempting offences that require a search warrant.
As for the HTA, depends on what the offence is. If you are driving around a parking lot, drunk, you will get a DUI. License or no license (alhtough DUI is now a CC conviction...damn liberals).
guards said:
LOL....why not get the cops contact info and drop him a line thanking him for being so cool. They don't get enough praise for shit like this.
Might work to your advantage you want to go "spinning" too.
It's an idea
