For all of you Lord of the Ring fans, did you pick up the new DVD? I did, even though I know I will be buying the next one in a month or so.

Great flick, and the behind the sceans stuff for the special edition and the ROTK kick ass.

Great books, great flicks.

i did, already watched it.

i can't believe the next one is only a few months a way

I was in line at 11:45 pm on Monday night. I'm a big fan of fantasy literature (read all the books in their series by the time I was 15), plus I love movies almost as much as bodybuilding. Great movie.

I read the books and then about 50 pages from the end, right after the ring is done with, I just put the book down and no longer gave a shit.

I love the movies and they are pretty much exactly how I imagined it in my mind when reading the books - but I fucking hate that fantasy shit of elves and dwarves and all that.
The ents were fucking annoying. I hate trees.

Give me William Gibson any day over Tolkien.
(that said, pretty much any Gibson book done in a movie has sucked major hairy ass)

Nah, I'll wait till the trilogy special edition comes out. In the meantime I will continue to buy porn.

Yep. Got it on Tuesday.

Saving it for the weekend.

Will probably do the Fellowship extended version and then put in the Two Towers.

I'll be the extended version when it comes out as well. It will have something like 43 additional minutes.

I'm waiting on checking out the ROTK trailer until this weekend.

But, some sweet leaf and LOTR will be a good combo on Saturday night.

Some killer still out I found for ROTK. Pics of gollum as smeagol and all kinds of stuff.

The extended TT is going to be killer. I can not wait!

w00t, watched it 3 times already....... watching it while i lifted.. well sorta, most of the time just doing arms. so i could watch it and not kill myself.

<-- mega dork. :(

Yeah, I got it on Tuesday as well. Watched it once so far, gonna watch it again on Sunday. The preview for RoTK is awesome. The battle for Helm's Deep is intense on my large screen and surround system, when they blow the hole in the wall I had windows shake! :)

I'm going to wait for the trilogy box set. You know its going to happen.

Hit up the series "Sword of Truth" by Terry Goodkind, some of the best fantasy out there....Starts with "Wizards First Rule"

Heh heh heh....I have the Kronks hooked on them.....

I like the Shannara series by Terry Brooks...

I read those a long time ago. I think he's added some new books onto it now though. Have you read those? Any good?

I have read all of Brooks, Eddings, and Gemmell...I have actually met Terry Brooks several times, a very nice gent, and a wonderful wife....The Magic Kingdom series where he leaves takes place 2 miles behind my house...Though that series actually sucks....

Yep, I've followed the series all the way through.

First King was great, and the new series is pretty good, but a little predictable. I'm halfway through the latest book, and I can already tell where it's going. Hoping for at least one decent plot twist.

I met Terry Brooks a few years ago when he was in town for a book signing...I thought he was very nice as well. It wasn't a very big crowd, and he very graciously signed all my first editions for me. I've got a first edition Sword of Shannara, which in and of itself is extremely rare, and to have it signed makes it all the more unusual.

I never got into his other series outside of Shannara, but I really think his writing style has improved over the years.

Yeah I got it. I already pre-ordered the Extended version in November

Two things i Hate about "The Two Towers" though: The 2 comedic relief scenes with Gimli..."Jar-Jar Binks scenes"

1. When the "orc-wolves" fall on top of him right in the middle of the battle. Totally ruins the tempo of the scene.

2. Battle of Helms Deep. During the tense build-up to the opening of the battle the references to Gimli's height. again totally ruins the mood of the scene.

Ahhh.. lets see if I can remember the wizard's first rule... something to do with people being gullible. Read those years ago. An excellent series. I'm a speed reader. I polished off over 500 nolves before I was 18. Have you read Terry Brook's First three Shannara books? Very good, some of the first novels I ever read, and well worth reading. The Sword of Shannara is probably one of the best fantasy novels of all time, although The Sword of Truth" series is really good.
