Whoooa Back the short bus up..

What do you mean it doesn't count ?
If I gave $100 directly to the Red Cross 2 days after the storm hit,
does that Guarantee that it is gonna do DIRECTLY to victims ?

Maybe its gonna pay some Red Cross Exec's Salary ?
Maybe its gonna pay for the ads on TV during Golden Girls
Maybe its gonna pay for a Red Cross blood drive in Newark N.J.

how come? it's not breaking rules in anyway... i'm just curious...

short bus? if you didnt donate directly to the katrina fund, i dont think it goes directly to the katrina victims... i wasnt knocking you, or you donating to charity, i think thats a great thing... i was just saying that by donating to the red cross or another charity that it doesnt necessarily mean it went directly to katrina aid.

I didn't take offense, just clarifying charity funding methods in reality with a bit of smart ass thrown in..

What is a "Katrina fund" and how does it guarantee that all monies go to Katrina victims ?

on the red cross website you can specify whether to donate to red cross or directly to the katrina relief efforts

I donated to Noah's Wish and the Humane Society.

For the others, I pay taxes up the ass to the Federal Government.

yes, kind of like how a few years back you could donate to something specific for the united way... however, they stole our fucking money and made millions for themselves...

Yes, we had a group here do a Suitcase For Survivor type thing. The thing is you take a suitcase and pack it full of things that you would use on a week long vacation. Clothes - underwear, socks, pants, shirts, shoes, etc.., toiletries - toothbrush, soap, shampoo, razor, shaving cream, underarm deoderant, etc... you pack it with a specific person in mind. You decide the gender and age and pack enough for a weeks vacation. Then you label it with the gender and age that it is appropiate for and donate it.

It is a very easy program to do and it is much better than blindly throwing money out there that may not even reach the victims zipcode, let alone them. And it is an easy program to start if you want to tell your church, job or school about it. (read that curling)

I donated to a few local businesses that offered jobs to the victims that are now without a home and are trying to relocate to NYC (there are a few).

The fucks that were too lazy to leave can rot.

i donated most of my lunch money for the month to the katrina victims. In class, an envelope usually goes around for the victims and each day id put in a dollar or any coins i had. Eventually, thats almost all of my lunch money. I just pray that the school didn't take the money like blood-sucking vampires and not give it to charity. I have given a GREAT deal of my money because of gum fines that "go to help charity" when i see alot of teachers pocket the 2$...

oh well it's the intention i guess .
