I'm pretty proud of myself!! Came in 114th at just under 34 minutes.

The guy who won did it in 15 minutes.... :worried: That is fast!! He was done before the rest of us got to 1 mile.....Amazing!

They had plastic bags with candy in it, raffle drawings, bagels, water for free. And t-shirts. So I got a bunch of stuff....

Pretty cool! There's another one on Saturday I may do....

Again...congrats Jen! I responded on the C&C board..

Congrats! I used to LOVE doing races. The atmosphere is so much fun and the feeling of accomplishment is fantastic. I always toy with going back to races. :) Maybe this will be my motivation! :)

Racing is so fun, and you don't even have to be a hardcore distance runner to do them and enjoy it! (Because after all, it's not really about your placement, but your personal accomplishments! At least that's how I see it now that I'm not a high school cross-country runner any more!)

I did a 4 mile race back in September, finished in 33 minutes. It was so fun, and it was sponsored by the school I teach at to raise money for charity, so I was running with a bunch of my students (and kicked their butts, so they never heard the end of that...) Wish I could find more, but unfortunately the weather in this sh!thole part of the country is going to get reaaaaaaaaal icky soon.

Yep, the race was fun and there was lots of free stuff......plus it was close to my house, so I could walk there....

Very cool....

There are 2 more races I want to do this month, then 1 in January....

Congrats!!
I did one also this past weekend! A couple of us girls from the gym did it,its always fun to get t-shirts and goodies, I agree :) My time was 25.54 now, I'm inspired to do more, its great to see improvements in my times and add new challenges to my fitness level.

Congrats! Thats a great run Especially for someone who has never done a 5K before. Keep up the good work!!!

I find that races are just a little way to see how much you can do, and it is alot funner than running on the tredmill..

Oh yeah!! The treadmills at the gym face into a mirror -- BO-RING!!

Much, much more fun!!

Oh and I was 114th out of 181 (some were walkers). So, 63% of the people finished before me. I'm almost in the top half.

Oh and our Senator Mike Castle was 113th....

Hey toots,

Nice work - I hope you share this on the cardio board, too. You are at the stage now where it is very easy to reduce the time you ran dramatically. You are in my area - generally - and there are a lot of races like that in the area. Maybe join a running club.

It may encourage you to know that my best is about 20:00 - though I haven't tested it in a long long time. 6 months before that it killed me to run it in 28. Part of the reason is due to the guy who is my coach who ran it in 13:42.

BTW - Mike Castle is your US Congressman, not your Senator - though I'd like to see him run for Senate.

congratulations !! I went in a 10 k fun run last year. I thought I would just go and take it easy, but I didn't realize how exciting it was. I found myself running like a madwoman. Went waaay to hard and paid for the next 2 weeks with sore shins. *L*

Now that the weather is cool, I live in Louisiania, there are 5 and 10k's almost every weekend. I'm thinking about trying a 10k at the end of the month, just for the challenge.

Ran another 5k today........the after party was waaaay cool......shaved 1:04 off my time, came in at 32:41.....not too shabby...and the weather conditions sucked -- windy -- very windy...
