did DAD do the right thing?

from mommy its OK but still should be done rarely, Never from dad.

i don't get your reasoning for the never by dad thing.

with my son, 1 out of every 20 times he's misbehaving i can put him back in line just with my voice. on that one time out of 20 he decides to keep pushing the line, we'll have the hand to ass interaction occur. he has to be overly defiant to get to that point though. that's exactly how i was raised, and my dad was raised that way as well.

me and my boy are real close, like father and son should be.

but he knows what's up too...when i say "Ryan, you're the MAN!" he says "no daddy, i'm not a man, i'm a boy...you're a man!" :D

My mom was home with us 24-7. So we were used to her yelling at and smacking us. She was with us the most...thus we didn't react a ton to her punishment. But if dad yelled or smacked us we'd just break down because then we really knew we did something wrong. That happened maybe 1-2 times a year.

Your punishment seems more than fair.

You were raised either by a dad with no backbone or a single mother.

Make her read one of your posts. That's punishment enough to last a lifetime.

well, i could introduce her to you but she would probably spend the rest of her life in therapy. seeing as how i really don't want to pay for that, i'll pass. thanks.

No thanks, I was married once. And that was enough.

Plus, thinking of calling you "Dad" is making me retch.

if my son didn't say "Dad" with such awe, respect, and enthusiasm, it'd make me sick too.
