Diabetes and Weightlifting...

I was wondering if I needed to alter my workouts or anything due to the fact that I am an insulin dependent diabetic. I am 25, 6'6" 230lbs. Looking to tone up and gain strength.

Any tips?

Thanks

My good frien is a diabetic weightlifter. He always says to watch blood sugar levels while working out. The increased strain and calorie consumption can do some strange things while working out. Other than that try to eat enough calories to support muscular growth. Lifting wise he doesn't to anything different as far as training styles.

Cheers,

my mom has diabetes, but she doesn't train. I'd be interested to find out more as well, but my guess is you're going to be more concerned with pre/post workout meals than your training, but don't hold me to it.

...and good for you for getting in the gym. I find it so frustrating that I can't get my mom to do anything more than walk the dogs (and she eats like shit).
