You can get dextrose at most health food grocery stores. it is not expensive, $2.50 a lb sounds about right. Some groceries I can think of are Whole Food Compnay, Earth Fare, and Fresh Market. Look out for the tree huggers while in these stores though

You can get it from beer homebrew shops (they call it "corn sugar") for about 50 cents to $1 per pound.
