dextrose on ckd diet

When you first go on a CKD the reason you do not refeed for 10-14 days is to use most of the muscle/liver glygogen you are holding in order to get into ketosis. If you are refilling muscle glygogen on a regular basis then chances are you are going to slow your fat loss. Ketosis is a muscle sparing state, meaning you can run a calorie deficiet without losing a large amount of lean muscle mass. IF the point of your diet is to lose fat then I see no purpose in refilling glycogen that could cause you slow your rate of fat burning. LIke I said earlier, if the point is to lose fat than those small after workout refeeds may slow your fat loss, but if you are not running a calorie deficiet than I could understand the smaller refeeds. I also do not understand why on a diet that is muscle sparing you would want to chance bumping yourself out of ketosis while you are the most catobolic?

thats weird, i was always teached that carbs after PW, even on a CKD would not effect glycogen levels

i'm out of karma for the day overhead... i'm absolutely baffled that some people would put themselves on a ckd without knowing 100% what is happening to their body internally...

It took me a while to figure it out. The diet goes against everything that most "experts" put out so I understand how people get confused. They come to the board and read about how important post-workout carbs are but do not realize it actually is not the best idea on a ckd to lose weight. I focus all my carbs around my workouts right now (100 grams or so), on non-workout days on average I would say I eat maybe 20-40 grams of carbs, *but* I am not trying to lose weight right now and most of the time I am eating well above my maint calorie level.

I am currently on a ckd diet and i want to add dextrose to PW, I am just wondering on how much i should take while on CKD so i can stay in or near ketosis? I know for most people its around 40-50 grams so i was thinking about 20 grams will do.
thnx for the help!

If you want carbs post workout you would need to switch your diet to a TKD (targeted ketogenic diet) where there is NO carb-up but a protein-up (read my TKD manual: TKD manual - Mr.X's Articles section).

Basically a TKD is an altered version of a CKD where you take in carbs either pre or post workout (I suggest pre) and it allows you to stay in ketosis; however, you will not be able to have a full carb-up w/ a TKD as you would w/ a CKD. Read my manual for protein up factors.

If your bodyfat is over 15% stick to a regular CKD w/o alterations, but if your bodyfat is under 15%, you will benefit from doing a TKD w/ modified carb-ups to keep your T4-T3 conversion and leptin levels steady.
