Desktop vs Wireless Laptop

Do you guys use a desktop or laptop for your main computer at home?

I'm thinking about ditching my desktop computer and just getting a laptop. If you only use a computer for occasional web surfing, e-mailing friends, and photopraghy is a wireless laptop worth it?

Guess i dont use my computer very much anymore and want to downsize.

Anyone ever tried Verizon wireless? :)

Wireless is the way to go. My ex-fiancee and I had it. It was superb.

I used to have a laptop before at home, besides 2 additional work laptops.

This home laptop was connected to a docking station with a 21'' monitor and all the niceties.

Eventually, upgraded to a desktop, because;

1. easier to upgrade/maintain
2. cheaper on the long run
3. need for more processing power (started doing home videos)
4. additional storage space

I'm looking into it. I just dont need an entire desktop set up. Takes up too much space. I'm thinking I would love a little wireless laptop. ;)

then again, I forgot, the entire place is wireless, you don't need a laptop for that, the desktop and all 3 laptops are wireless, the desktop acts as a file/print server

Thanks...yeah. I've been doing wildlife photography and love it so I want to make sure a laptop can do all that stuff.

Desktop is nice if you can build or upgrade your own stuff - very cheap! I moved exclusively to laptop after I had to pack up the monitor, the tower and all the peripheral shit in my car when Hurricane Floyd was aiming at my townhouse back in 2000. It took up so much room in my car that I almost didnnt' have room for my cat.

never again. I am completely mobile now. However the cost of that is if my laptop takes a dump, I go buy a new laptop. I do suggest keeping a good back up schedule & I also keep things like all my email & critical documents stored online as well. I am highly web-based, just in case I can't rely on having my laptop available.

I honestly dont know why people buy desktops myself. I have a couple and never use them, mainly b/c they are so cheap I spose.
My laptop has a 17"screen with everything and extra pickles.

I think you would be very happy if you dont want to spend money on a good laptop is if you got a media center pc. Make your living room digital, all photos, music etc...

Thanks Sassy...That sounds like me moving.

Sounds like a mobile/wireless laptop is what I need.
